Hey everyone,

Looking at a Pacifica Hybrid and really love it. The only thing that is a major deal for us is the lack of a blind spot camera when merging right.

Is anyone aware of a 3rd party camera that can do this when you turn the turn signal to the right, and ideally use the same center screen for the car? I'm guessing this is unlikely, but if it happens to exist then we would definitely be getting a hybrid, otherwise we will go with another car manufacturer most likely.

The hybrid does have blind spot detection as part of the Advanced Safetytec package that's standard on the Platinum. Is that different than what you're looking for?

Thanks, yea I'm specifically looking for a camera. I'm ok with the triangle light on both side view mirrors, but my wife really likes the camera we have on our current vehicle. Since she will be driving it mostly, it's hard for me to talk her into the car if she's not comfortable driving it.

Just FYI, you can set it to "beep" when there is a car detected simultaneous with the blinker activated. Not to steer you away from the camera, but the beep is pretty decent at creating awareness.

Thanks, that's good information. I will probably still need a camera, but that does help to know that.

im sorry to be sassy, but that is what properly aligned mirrors are for.

I am assuming your have a Honda of some sort that has Honda LaneWatch (turn signal to the right activates a camera that is under the passenger mirror to display what it sees on the center console screen). Is that correct?
Yep that's right, 2015 Honda CR-V right now.

Does anyone other than Honda even do that? I've never had it, so I don't know much about it. Does it only activate when you activate your turn signal? What's the advantage to the camera versus the visual and/or audible alerts?

Thanks. But the main issue is my wife's comfort in merging lanes. I can certainly try to work with her to try this approach, but I don't know how far I would get.

I'm not sure if anyone else does it from the factory, but there are aftermarket systems it seems. But I want one that can be integrated so that it appears factory-like.

It is very handy when turning right. You get a pretty clear view of the lanes next to you and there are lines to show you how far cars are behind you. It also keeps you looking mostly straight ahead since you are looking at the screen on your dash. It is activated when you put on your right turn signal, and there also is a button on the turn signal column if you want to just turn it on. I use that for when I'm driving past a lane that is merging into my lane (and I am not actually merging anywhere).

This would just make it much easier for us to get a Pacifica, so that's why I'm looking for options.

Honda is the only manufacturer that I am aware of that offers this on their vehicles. I would think it could be a lot of work to put an aftermarket similar system on the Pacifica and make it appear stock. Let us know what system you find that you plan to use.

Honda is the only manufacturer that has that. I have it on my Odyssey. It can come on when you activate your turn signal or with the push of a button on the end of the turn signal stalk. I disabled the auto on feature when activating the right turn signal as I don't need to see beside the vehicle when making a right turn. I suppose if you live in a bigger city with lots of cyclists zooming in and out of traffic this could be handy, but my town of 20,000 really doesn't have that. I just press the button when I'm passing someone on the highway. It has lines that help show when your vehicle is just past the one you are passing then lines to indicate that you are 1 and 2 car lengths ahead. It is handy but nothing blind stop monitors and properly aligned mirrors can't compensate for. Whenever I travel on the highway, I always adjust my mirrors to actually show the blindspots.

We have a 16 Accord EX-L loaded in the fleet and has that **** passenger side camera mirror and I can't stand it. That to me is actually unsafe as it is not quick enough and if the camera is filthy or if it is raining it is useless. I think Honda is just so far back in regards to safety that they are just for 2017 starting to add the actual blind spot monitoring to their vehicles. Chrysler has had the bsm for some time and is so much more safer. I also have always added the convext mirrors to all my vehicles, even the Accord as it is easier and safer.
