It seems that my power 3rd row seat is stuck can anyone help me or do I need to take back to dealer. The small seat is folding fine but the bigger one is not moving?

I knew this was going to be an issue eventually. Chrysler should have a manual crank incase this happens.

this is one main reason why I don't want the limited because of the power third row, it's so slow and it's another potential electronic problem. certain things are great with power but not the third row seats, just give me the latch and let me slam it down in 2 seconds.

good luck on the fix hope it goes well.

There is a TSB on this. Go to dealer.

Here is an update.

After 1 and 1/2 days at dealership the mechanics had no clue why its stuck. They couldn't even release it from the stuck position and there was no power to the seat. They said that this can be a big problem in the future because there is no way of manually releasing this. The tech told me that if this seat sticks in the future you always have to bring it in the dealership.

Stay away from this option and just get the manual seats that fold. I will be contacting CHrysler to get more information and a solution for doing this manually. This is a huge safety concern because if you go on a long trip with 7 ppl and you fold a seat in and it sticks, your passenger will have to take a taxi home.

After almost 2 days he found that there is an software update for this specific problem.

PLEASE CALL YOU DEALERSHIP AND FIND OUT FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES.

There has to be something very wrong with the Dealer you had your Pacifica serviced at. You went there knowing there was a TSB for the issue and they still did something (what pray tell?) for a day and a half trying to physically fix it? This 3rd Row Electronic Seat Issue has been well known since mid-summer. By the way, we had this problem several times in June/July timeframe and there were some positions that you could manually move the stuck seat to stow it. The time that we couldn't move it at all was when the seat was partially closed to the point that the seat back was halfway forward toward the 2nd Row Seat.

I just brought my 2018 Pacifica Limited into the Galeana Chrysler Dealership here in Florida this morning. Had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment. My 3rd row driver side seat stopped working after I inadvertently touch one of the buttons to control the seats before the seats completed the cycle. The seat back moved forward and backward from the control button but the seat itself would not function from the other three buttons. The driver side seat works fine. I suspected that the FSM module needed reflashing as the memory somehow got confused. Sure enough --- that was the problem . This is a concern FCA needs to address as they can't expect owners to return to the dealership to have the module reflashed each time . There should be a way to re flash the memory by pulling a fuse and reinstalling it or something simple like that . I wasn't happy being unable to stow the seat for two weeks , let alone taking it to the dealership and waiting for over an hour to get the module reflashed. It was covered under warranty but what happens when there is no warranty left ? I read stories here where people left a floor mat in the way and it tripped the module and seats would not work. Engineers need to find a better fix.

Hi CAWwindy1,

I have passed your feedback along to the brand for further internal review.

Just so you know, the Chrysler Manual actually says that if you have started the seat moving in a direction that you need to stop, the proper way to stop it is indeed to ...depress a button on the panel. I'm not saying there couldn't be more than one possible root cause to a 3rd Row Seat malfunction, but the most typical one is noted in the TSB. You did not cause the issue via pressing the button, even if you pressed it more than once. My 3rd Row passenger side seat was totally stuck mid-way forward when I took delivery of the car. The Dealer temporarily fixed it on their first try via a software/firmware approach. They said as I was leaving the Dealer that for a permanent fix they needed to order a part, which sounded like it was a small circuit board. After that part was installed I have not had the problem recur.

I have the power fold third row option and I love it! I had it on my 2014 T&C and now my Pacifica. So far, I haven't had an issue with the 3rd row on either vehicle... I wear a suit for work and I remember the old days of having to physically remove the entire seat from the van and store it in my garage when I needed the space and then break my back putting it back in for passengers... Now I just push a button :smile2:

I agree though, there should be a manual override to be able to open or close the 3rd row if/when it malfunctions. FCA should realize that most of us own these vans because we NEED the versatility of the 3rd row space, be it for passengers and/or cargo. When that 3rd row seat malfunctions, it puts us in a very difficult predicament and in many cases, renders that extra space useless!

I returned to the dealer again today as the Stop/Start warning signal appeared on the cluster. - the A symbol in a circle with the exclamation mark next to it. When it appeared I immediately started moving to the outside lane so I could get off the road. As I was making my way over the (ETC) Warning light came on the cluster also with a message --- service the Electronic Throttle Control . When this happened the vehicle felt kind of sluggish and I was afraid to turn the ignition off as I got to the side of the road in case the vehicle would not restart. I was close by the dealership so I continued straight to the dealership for them to have a look. I turned the ignition off when I got to the dealership and the tech hooked up the dongle to the OBD2 port and ran through the checklist on his iPad and everything showed OK -- no updates required and no faults. So now I am in a wait and see situation to see if the condition will repeat itself .

I just bought a used 2017 Pacifica Limited yesterday and noticed the buttons aren't working at all for the 3rd row stow. I thought I wasn't positioning something right but stumbled on this thread. Looks like I will be taking it back to the dealership. Bummer....

So I contacted the dealer who sold me the Pacifica. They said the third row automatic stow and go does not work in cold weather. It's been in a climate controlled garage since I bought it. They also said I was not holding the button down and that was a requirement to stow the third row. This is the most ridiculous response I have ever heard. I explained to them that this is a known service bulletin and they should not have sold me a certified vehicle without this being checked, since it is a known issue. They said to bring it in to get checked.....Very disappointed in this dealers initial response.

I would suggest taking a copy of the TSB number with you to the service appointment.

The TSB number is 08-084-16. I hope that takes care of the problem for you

Hi Gnashty,

As @SciTchr stated there is a TSB to address this issue on some Pacificas. If you would like to send us a PM with your VIN I'd be happy to check if the TSB applies to your vehicle!

Has the TSB/reflash for this stuck seat issue been addressed with new 2018's or at least with new orders of 2018's? Or if a Pac is delivered in, say, Feb 2018, it may still need the fix?

It is down-right absurd and disappointing the level of knowledge and false information sales people/dealers give on the Pac. A few months ago I was looking at a 2017 limited model and the driver's side of the sliding doors wouldnt do the hands-free open (the other side worked). the sales man said, "that's the way it is intended to work. it is a safety feature. imagine you are on the freeway pulled over, you dont want that side automatically sliding open." WHAT!? bald-face lie. i just shook my head.

whatever it takes to get the sale, i suppose...but i walked out.

This happen to me 2 days ago. I auto started the van and it timed out after 15 minutes. I got into the van and started it. I notice the A symbol was active on the dash and with the exclamation mark next to it. All I could think was WTF now, I tried to press the activate button but it didnt work. After I drove for about 10 min to where I was going, I stopped and restarted the van. It did not appear. It could of been a fault or some sort. It was snowing by me and I dont know if that made a difference.

Thank god this wasnt another issue. I hate going to the dealership for little BS like this and wasting my time.
