Whats awesome is that this info seems very hard to find, and the IRS site that seems to be tracking some of this... only has a couple manufacturers listed.

Even though the IRS has another page with a full subset of manufacturers that offer this engine/motor type.

There is a new law in the works that removes the limit. It is a safe guess that this law will pass before FCA reaches the current limit.

Either way, based on all the best guesses Chrysler is well under the 200k limit. If you haven't bought one, you have plenty of time.

Keep in mind even if Chrysler hits the limit the phase out is not immediate.

Vehicles receive the full credit for an additional quarter after the 200k is hit.

Meaning if an automaker times it right and hits early in a given quarter, the full credit is given for 6 months no matter how many they make.

That said with the electric/phev Jeep coming out keep in mind that will affect things.

Also if there's anything like an electric Fiat due to the merger they are all one manufacturer now.

There is the electric Fiat 500, but I don't think they sold many.

The way the current parts shortage / parts supplier issues you have nothing to worry about . Up met should be the grand Cherokee L plug in followed by the Wagoneer / grand Wagoneer plug in . I think after that you’ll see the full wrangler electric and plug in gladiator .

Joe Biden is proposing a 12.5k rebate if the car is made in US union shops .
10k non union and it doesn't run out till 50 percent of the US Car Fleet is electric.
Don't know if he can pass anything with Manchin in there though .

Is Fiat still owned by Stellantis?
Fiat was not owned by Stellantis. Stellantis is the name given to Chrysler by the PSA (Peugeot) group that bought FCA.

In effect, the Italians are out of the picture, and it's now the French who are running Chrysler. The Germans already had their chance.

How exactly do we go about getting this credit? Is it something to bring up when filing 2021 taxes or is it something I can lock down earlier? Every now and then I'll refresh the Texas rebate site but doesn't seem to be open yet.

You fill out form 8936 when you submit your federal taxes. Or you get your tax software to do it for you.

If you are extra smart, you adjust your federal tax witholdings at work by submitting a new W4 as soon as you decide to purchase a vehicle that year so that you immediately start getting the credit by paying less taxes on your paycheck.

This.

Especially the w4 change since most people will just wait till the end of the year and get a huge refund.

Agreed but be careful the IRS has been known to flag your w4 and force you to have zero withholding if their system (some algorithm) detects it believes your withholding too much based on previous years.
