I always told my wife that I'd never own a van. Being married for 14+ years, I've been saying this for a long time. 3 years ago we went from a civic to a small SUV, but leg room was limited in front of the kid (meaning I always drove) and storage wasn't that great. Now we're expecting our second kid making both seats in the front of the SUV have less than optimal leg room.
A while ago the SUV was rear ended, and when it was finally getting fixed (6 months later) the insurance company gave my wife a rental, a grand caravan. We had that rental for 1 week, and she absolutely loved the practicality of it. I made fun for a couple of days until I started to notice how easy it was to buckle the little man in, how improved the leg room was, and how much storage there was available. Wow.
I swallowed my pride a little bit and told her she could get whatever kind of vehicle she wanted, and I would fully support (and fund) the purchase. I have a great wife and could tell she still wanted me to be happy so we still test drove a few SUV's, but aside from an "XL" or expedition type SUV, we weren't improving a whole lot over the small compact SUV we already had. She decided a MV would be best, and I agreed. I jokingly tell her I still have my truck and Mustang to come home to in case I lose my man card on a minivan ride. :wink2:
We test drove some odysseys and grand caravans and really like the odysseys. I pushed the pacifica aside because it was too new to get a good deal on. The day we were walking out the door to buy a GC (odysseys were not worth what people wanted) a good friend of mine told me about a dealer (2.5 hrs away) that had a decent deal on a pacifica. We decided to go test drive and came home with it.
I can not believe how smooth it drives and all the technology packed into it, although it's only a touring L, it's pretty amazing. I'm looking forward to improving our Pacifica like I try to do to our other vehicles. Happy Touring everyone!

Hahahahaha!!! That's awesome! I'm sending this to my wife right now. We're going hunting! :grin2:
Pretty cool, huh? I don't think the Pacifica would be a match for your Mustang though.

It helps to live in a multicar family and also have a wife like yours and mine who let us choose the "other car". I'm pretty happy having a "fun vehicle" plus a minivan in the household and depending on how they are used on any particular day the title "fun vehicle" sometimes clearly resides with the van.

My wife is on her 5th minivan and every time we go out to buy something "cooler" we end up with yet another one...and we don't even have the "kid" excuse anymore.

Enjoy!

Thanks, it's been super handy. We even make up reasons to go out and drive it. :) it's a fun vehicle, and we are very satisfied owners thus far.

A week after owning my Pacifica I had already hauled 8 full sheets of plywood and about 400 linear feet of lumber. I use it like a truck. Except better. Man card still intact. It's still got a bit of a musky smell from the pile of cedar planks I hauled this weekend.

Congratulations! My story was pretty much the opposite of yours. I always wanted a minivan but my wife kept on shutting me down. Then I got her Prego so she was forced to the van side. Moowahaha. Anyways, glad you like it.

I did the same thing. I did not want a minivan and we looked into crossovers, but they all suck. We want a 3rd kid so I need an easy to access 3rd row, and for many suv's and crossovers the 3rd row is difficult to access.

So I bought the Pacifica and could not be happier. I am also into home improvement and I am remodeling my basement. I have no idea how I would have done this project with my car. I can fit so much stuff into the Pacifica, even with both kids in the bucket seats.

Even if I get a new car 10 years from now when the kids are older I will be keeping the pacifica forever as my truck.

My wife and I were the same way. Then about 3.5 years ago we were at a Toyota dealership getting the oil on our Escalade changed.(Bought it used from a Toyota dealer) I started looking at a Sienna. Thought "Wow. Look at all this room. Storage AND seating. And no more fighting to get baby carriers in and out without door dinging the car next to us." So I convinced my wife to lease a Sienna. One week in, we were hooked. This past Monday we drove a Pacifica Limited off the lot. The dealer bought us out of our Sienna lease, and now we have a 2017 Pacifica Limited with the Safety Tech package and UConnect Theatre. It had 9 miles on it when we drove it off the lot. Absolutely love it.
