The manual makes it clear that our hybrid support Miracast wireless streaming. I have not gotten it to work yet. I'm using a Windows tablet that I know Miracast works on. I've looked in the manual on the instructions. When I look for wireless displays I can't find the Pacifica Network. Anyone have better luck?

Not sure if it’s needed but did you try turning on WiFi in the front nav? I think it’s under hotspot settings, but you don’t need to go as far as activating the hotspot service.

When I was playing around with it you need to go to Wireless Streaming on the touch screen. Then it activates a WiFi Direct signal that you can connect to.

I couldn't get it to work until I went to that screen.

So I figured out part of my problem. My software was not updated, so I was not seeing the wireless streaming card on the back screens. I updated the software and now can see the cards. However, when I check ON for wireless streaming, it automatically unchecks. I believe it is because it wants to me "turn on Wifi." How do I do that? The only way I know of to turn on Wifi in the car is to turn on the hotspot, which costs money. Is that really the only way to use miracast, to pay for the hotspot?

How did you update the software? Did you have to go into the dealership?

Not sure about the updating the software but I have a 2018 and an old HTC One M7 that has the media output setting which can see the pacfica wifi but always has an error.
Anyways so far I have figured out the steps so far are:
- Click on the unconnect theater from the front
- click on the input
- select streaming
- click on streaming setting (not 100% on the name)
- check the wifi box (i also changed the wifi name might try to set everything back and try again)
- exit back and click on add device

From there I go on my phone and go to the media output setting and I can see the wifi and it says miracast
Click on the wifi

This triggers the car display (either rear or front screens to ask if you accept the connection)

they will both say connecting then my phone will "time out" i believe then later the car will tell me there was an error. I have tried doing wifi direct first which failed and then tried to do it straight through media output which also didnt work.

It would be nice to get it to work but in the long run I will likely upgrade my phone and either get a chromecast or a usb-c to hdmi cable.

The chromecast works great btw. Just enable hotspot on the cell phone, the chromecast connects to the phone. Then cast YouTube, etc to the screen as needed. The cool part is that it will mirror hdmi2 to hdmi1.. or vise-versa so only need to have one chromecast connected to the back seat so long as all kids cool with the content.

To find updates for UConnect try this link:
https://www.driveuconnect.com/suppor...re-update.html
I saw this in another thread, thought it might help.

There is a Software Update for Uconnect that lists that issue as one of the things it is supposed to fix. I applied that Software yesterday to my Pacifica Limited by downloading the Update from the Uconnect website to my Computer, then extracting the Update File from that Zipped File before moving it to a USB Thumb/Flash Drive. (The Thumb Drive Must Be New and only have the Thumb Drive Factory Files on it)

All you need to do once you have the Update on the Flash Drive is go to the Pacifica, Start the Engine, Make sure the Radio is On and insert the USB Flash Drive in the USB Port right below the Radio. Don't do anything else, just wait the 1or 2 minutes it takes for the System to access the File and place a PopUp on your Display that shows you your Systems Current File vs. the File on the USB Flash Drive. If the Flash Drive has the Newer / more recent File then say Yes. The rest will be done automatically over the next approximately 30 minutes. During the process don't touch the Radio, or the Flash Drive and don't turn the vehicle off or even open the door until you see a final PopUp that shows you that the Update has indeed finished and shows you the Newer File is now your Current File. It will ask Do You Want To Update Again? (or words to that effect) You will say No.
I just checked the website and I have two Uconnect updates to apply. I just got the car in September, so one pre-dates the delivery... I know I can download them to a USB drive to install, but do I have to do both (one after the other) or can I just do the most recent one?

Hi MLambert,

The first bulletin is a TSB for the following:

"NUMBER: 0808717
GROUP: 08 Electrical
DATE: September 21, 2017

SUBJECT:
Miracast Software Update Available
OVERVIEW:
This information only bulletin discusses the availability of MiracastT which has been added to the
Video Routing Module (VRM) through a software update.
MODELS:
2017 (RU) Chrysler Pacifica

Miracast is screenmirroring
software that lets you broadcast anything from an AndroidT device or
recent IntelT computer to your TV. Whatever you see on the connected device will appear on the
radios monitor, making it ideal for watching videos. Phones and tablets with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
or later have access to Miracast, as do most modern Windows PCs with Intel chips. This info only
bulletin is to inform the dealer and customers what this software update does and that it is
available. The software is being released to allow customers to enhance functionality of Uconnect
theater for customer satisfaction."

Please note, if you have this performed at the dealership, they will charge for it, as they cannot perform it under warranty. You do not need to download this update to download the OTA update.

On my Samsung phone if click on Smart View it will scan for the Pacifica cast. Once you select this a message will pop up on the screen behind the drivers side asking to connect. (You may have to turn on the wireless streaming option on the screen first). It works quite well. Connection gets lost occasionally for random reasons but reconnecting fixes the issue. It is definitely a cool feature.

Thanks for the information, do you have a 2017 or 2018 Pacifica? I have a 2017 (gas version) that I would love to use my Samsung phone to miracast content to the rear screens.

Thanks. Apparently, for my 2017 gas powered Pacifica the miracast isn't an option (or an option yet?). This could be another reason for someone to go with the 2018 over the 2017.

I can't post links yet, so I can only give hints on where to find tutorial videos. Search for 2018 Chrysler Pacifica with Uconnect Theater on YouTube and there's a good demo on the feature.

FCA also has an official video on their Uconnect account on YouTube. Search for How to Play Content from Mobile Devices onto Uconnect Theater Screens

I tried it out and it worked using an old android tablet i had. Must enable the wireless streaming AP and connect to that which is different from the in car hotspot.

On the tablet, needed to enable "Wireless display" checkbox but not sure what the equivalent on Windows would be.

Mine does not work. I have a 17 Pacifica. Update went well. When I go to settings and turn on wifi cast in the van, as soon as I leave that setting screen and go back to it the button goes back to the off position. If I stay on that screen and have my device search for it, nothing is found.

I cannot see a Pacifica WiFi network. The touch screen indicates it is turned on.
One of the FCA u-tube videos has a short comment regarding possibly needing the dealer to enable some software - anyone run into this?

If the Settings screen on the rear touch display has a "Streaming " icon then the software is up to date. With Streaming on you should see the Pacifica network when you look for it with the Miracast/Screen Mirroring/cast feature on your phone.

Remember, the Pacifica network used for streaming from the phone is not visible from the normal Wi-Fi settings on your phone. It's only visible from the Miracast feature on the phone.

I recently bought a used 2017 Pacifica Limited and after reading through this forum I looked in my car to see if I could get Miracast working. I didn't see any of the options for WiFi ON and couldn't see any way to get Miracast working.

This document (TSB 08-096-19.pdf) indicates version 19.12.10 is available, but when I look under "System Information" on the seat-back screens it says "VRM Software P/N: 162612". Maybe my software is out of date? For those of you with 2017s, how did you update the VRM? Did the update come from the online Uconnect software updates, or did you have to go to a dealer? I took my car to a dealer and they said there were no software updates for the VRM... the confusion continues.
