Nope, hybrids have same uConnect system as the petrol version. As for software updates to Android Auto/Car Play, it is highly dependent on the hardware. Ford most likely installed hardware that they knew was capable of running the software, but may not have had the integration fully fleshed out yet. Now that it's been tested, they're able to deploy it. Chrysler, on the other hand, has not installed compatible hardware, so it won't be a software update. VW went through the same issue a couple of years ago.

How about an app you don't have to pay a monthly membership after a year?

I'm confused about this but when the year is over, I can't check on the status of my vehicle unless I pay $14.99/mo?

Uhhhhh, that would be a big, fat negative! We got the Uconnect 8.4 system with no hope of being upgraded to the Uconnect 4 system with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto when it comes out.
thats speculation

Okay I see one more feature of Remote Start, is it only available if you pay and renew or it is built in feature and not linked to Uconnect ? That would be bummer if that is true.
Do bear in mind that the remote start is with some app. There is also a remote starter on the key FOB itself. Might be a unique situation to need to start the vehicle with phone instead of simply using the key FOB.

We still haven't activated uConnect and don't think we're really missing much.

It's the UConnect app that has remote start.

We actually used it the other day as we had parked quite a distance from an event and it was hot outside so my kids wanted me to make sure the van was cooled before we got there. We were beyond key fob range so I used the app to remote start.

It worked, as when we got there about 8 minutes later, it was nice an air conditioned (I had left the AC on when we parked).

Other than that remote start, I only use the app to see charging status (we have the Hybrid).

I also wish the app could tell me if the van was on or not (so I know that remote start was successful). If it could also alert me if it's still on after X minutes, that could help the people on the other thread who leave their vans on by mistake.

I'm just wondering if after the 1 year, if these functions are still available. Do other brands charge for their phone app?
