Out of curiosity, is it possible to turn on the Around View Camera while you're driving down the road? Or does it only work below a certain speed?

You can set a delay mode in UConnect settings that keeps Surround View Camera on for up to 10 seconds after switching tranny from R to D but only while driving under 8mph. Reaching 10 second or >8mph cancels 360 Birdseye view.

So what happens if you're driving on the highway and you select the camera from the controls screen? Or is that option grayed out while driving?

The control screen control is grayed out while moving and becomes active again when you stop. If you press and hold while moving a message comes up saying not available while vehicle is in motion. If you select it while stopped it works for a few seconds at low speed just like going from R-> D

Gotcha, thanks! These are the weird things I think about while waiting for my van to arrive :)

Generaltso -

Well, you have a very good sense of how things should (or likely do) operate on this van for a guy who isn't yet daily driving one. I'm impressed! I've had mine since July and generally still need to go to the van and refresh my memory before I can crisply respond to people's questions as most features come coupled with minor gotchas.

Not much longer for you to wait now. Please post a picture of your upper door hinge when yours comes in. I went to the dealer last Saturday and they had 5 Pacificas sitting on the lot but none were IIHS improved Sept or later builds.

If he has yet to get an ordered Pacifica, it should have the better newer door hinges.....mine was ordered 7/29/16 and built 9/8/16-9/9/16 and delivered 9/27 and I have the newer approved hinges...

Hi Damon -
Are you able to tell just by looking if they used thicker metal but otherwise left the bolt pattern the same? If so, I hope to order the part when available and replace my upper hinges. I suppose it's possible they used stronger (not thicker) metal. I posted pictures of my hinges in another thread.

Thanks Brett. I make it a habit of reading the owners manual cover to cover a couple times before buying a new car. It also helps that I've been driving a Cherokee for a couple years that has a lot of the same systems. I drove a Dodge Journey before that, so I've got a pretty good history with Uconnect.

I moved the icon for the Surround View Camera from the Control Panel to the bottom of the screen. This way, I can use it while going forward, at very low speeds. It's grayed out, except when you go slowly, like into a parking spot. It helps keep me from hitting the curb.

I was thinking about doing that as well. I just couldn't decide which icon to remove to make room for it. Which one did you take out?

Good idea. Now that I'm using my 360 Surround View more and more to check things like parking space alignment I'll do likewise and move my icon to screen bottom. I've been going in/out of reverse to do it and that's just unnecessary additional wear on tranny.

Damon,

How do you know your van has the new hinge setup? Is there a way to distinguish between the old hinge and the new hinge? My van was built the week after yours, so if your van has the new hinges, I'm assuming mine has them also. Would you please post pictures of your hinges. Thanks.

I took out controls I think...it's been a while. If you go to climate there is an icon in there for seat and steering wheel heat/cool.

Hmm, I don't think I want to take out Controls because it's got some other stuff in there like the 3rd row headrest fold. I keep looking through the icons, and it seems like they're all important enough that I want them to be there. It's annoying that Radio and Media take up 2 buttons. There's no reason those couldn't be a single button with all the radio and media sources combined into a single input list. I guess I'll have to just wait and see which ones I end up using before deciding which one to banish.

How do I accomplish this? I tried holding down the surround view button and dragging it...didn't move. Tried same thing for icons already on the bottom and they didn't move. Thanks for the help.
