I really hope I'm just missing something obvious here. I don't want the van to lock itself every time I start driving. No problem, I'll just disable the Auto Door Locks as detailed in the manual, right? For the life of me, I can't find that option where it's supposed to be. Has anyone else been able to turn the Auto Door Locks off?

Ah, you got it! In Vermont you'll be among the first to try those heated seats, steering wheel, wiper de-icer, etc.. Congrats on your new toy (finally)!

Haven't tried turning that off. Kathy is still at work so van isn't here but will check this too unless you (or someone else) figure it out first. BTW why does this setting show up on page 559 and again on page 585

Thanks Brett! My wife and I have already been using the heated seats and steering wheel. Now if it would just stop raining, I'd take a few pics to post. Hopefully, this weekend.

I really hope there's a way to turn the Auto Door Locks off or my wife's not going to be a happy camper. That setting is right where it's supposed to be on my Cherokee, so I'm puzzled as to why it would be missing from the Pacifica. Particularly since it's pretty clearly detailed in the owners manual.

Here's how I navigated to it on mine. I don't know if we have same software version.

1-Controls -> Settings
2-Scroll down to second page using down arrow on right
3-Doors and Locks
4-Auto Door Locks

Thanks Brett. Looks like your Pacifica has the option right where it's supposed to be. But it's not there on mine. The first option on that screen for me is "Auto Unlock on Exit". What 's the software version of your Uconnect system? Mine's at 16.23.23. I wonder if this is a change they made to go along with the beefed up front door hinges. The doors being locked probably reduces the chances of opening during a collision. But it sure is irritating if you don't want the car locking itself constantly.

What are others finding on this screen? Do you have the Auto Door Locks option? It will be interesting to see if all the Pacifica's built before 9/1 have it and all after 9/1 don't.

My UConnect version is 16.17.13 so it appears you may have quite a few improvements.
I'm going to be pretty jealous if you say you have CarPlay. Don't you tease us!!

I'd love to see a picture of those larger hinges you got but from your screen shot I see it's 41 degrees up there so the hinges have probably shrunk, haha.

Haha! No carplay, but this Uconnect version does include a coffee maker! :)

Yeah, it's pretty warm today at 41 degrees. It was 28 yesterday. My 14 year old son is still wearing shorts to school.

Here are what my hinges look like. I don't think they look any different than the other pics I've seen.

Okay, this auto door lock thing is already getting really annoying. I was running around all day yesterday picking up and dropping off kids. Every time somebody tried to get into the front or rear doors, they couldn't because I manually had to unlock them first. Then when somebody tries to get out of the rear doors, they can't without unlocking them first.

I understand that the vehicle needs to be in Park for the sliding doors to function, which I'm totally fine with. But now, I have to put the van in Park AND unlock the doors just for somebody to be able to get in or out. And this even affects somebody trying to get into the front door.

I was hoping the "Auto Unlock On Exit" feature would unlock the doors when the van is shifted to Park, but it doesn't. It only unlocks the doors when one of the front doors is opened from the inside.

Can anyone else confirm that your Pacifica does or does not have the option to disable Auto Door Locks and what your build date is?

auto door locks

Mine has the option for to disable auto door locks bought end of june. I suspect they did that to get the gov. safety rating on doors opening in a accident when they redid the front hinges. That sucks big time.

Mine is doing the exact same thing and, I agree, it's totally annoying!

I think that's very likely. I'm going to call Chrysler and see what they can tell me. I'm sure it will take a while to get to somebody who actually knows.

Have you tried going into the hidden UConnect engineering screen to see if there's a setting to change this new behavior back?

I haven't, but that's a great suggestion. Thanks!

I just checked out all the options in the engineering and dealer menus, but unfortunately, there's nothing there about the door locks.

I don't know if you are a "circuits guy" or not, but I'm thinking the gear knob is just a rotary switch. I can imagine a very simple circuit that generates a short pulse whenever the knob enters 'P' and that pulse goes to the gate of a FET (or pulses a relay coil) to momentarily mimic the driver's press of his door unlock button (or something along those lines).

Now some might say that a person would have to be insane to risk their warranty on such an endeavor especially if their tech skills aren't enough to hide the circuit along an OEM cable run right under the electrical tape but I think I've read one or two posts where people say this issue IS driving them insane.

Anyway, I'm getting ready in case A future trip to the service department gets me a curtesy software upgrade.

Well, I'm a computer guy, but not really a circuit guy. Getting it to work probably wouldn't be an issue, but doing things neatly has never been a strength of mine.

Ours is a July build and at 16.17.13. Do you have theater on you Pac....?
I do have Uconnect Theater. I assume your Pacifica has the option to disable Auto Door Locks?

I wonder if that option will disappear from all Pacificas when the next Uconnect update comes out. I wouldn't think they'll want different forks of Uconnect for the same model year.
