Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) / ACC Limited Functionality Service Required

As a first-time Chrysler owner, I have a few questions...

My 2021 Pacifica Hybrid with 1,800 miles on it began displaying the message "Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) / ACC Limited Functionality Service Required" with an alert beep constantly while driving. This was not an intermittent problem. It happens every time you start the car and constantly while driving.

Frustrating long version:

I took the vehicle in for service at the dealer for this issue and a slew of other minor issues and was told that it would take a half-day to diagnose. A half-day was not the end of the world despite the fact that I have 3 kids and the van is our only vehicle. After a full day without hearing anything from the dealer, I began calling...and calling... After 5 attempts throughout the afternoon, I was finally able to get someone on the phone but was told that "all the technicians have gone home for the day" but that they would "call me by 10 AM the next day." They didn't. I call back the next day and am told that the service rep will call me back in 10 minutes. He didn't. 1 hour later I called back again and was transferred to the sales rep who promptly told me my car was ready. Huzzah! I proceed to pick up my van. I get halfway home and...you guessed it...the message and beeping resumed.

The more focused part:

The mechanic noted 2 error codes:

ACC C2318-76 Front Camera-Wrong Mounting Position
ACC U148D-00 Implausible Data Received from Foward Facing Camera

Their conclusion (after a day and a half without a car) was that the camera was dirty so they said that they cleaned it and cleared the codes. They also said that they did a "software update" though there is no mention of reference to this on the receipt.

Has anyone else had this issue or similar?
Do you guys have any recommendations on how to deal with the situation?

@ChryslerCares Is this the type of service that I should expect going forward? Having the car in for warranty service after 1,800 is bad enough...

Thanks!

First of all, your mistreatment (and it was that, in spades) is totally on your dealer. It is an independent business, not a branch of Chrysler, so there is nothing @ChryslerCares can do about this. You will receive a survey from Chrysler directly and you can use that to report your dissatisfaction.

However, you can send a PM (private message) to @ChryslerCares, giving them your VIN, dealer name, and description of your problem. They will advise you further.

Thanks for the info, Waldo!

In the meantime, I've been able to silence the distracting warning beep by disabling both regular and pedestrian AEB as well as lane sense...so 90% of the safety features. Hopefully, this will be sufficient until I can get it to another dealer!

I have the same issue and have had to wait a month for an appt. I contacted the dealer because the van has been having other issues and I'm concerned about safety. It's auto-braked for NO reason, and the front sensors go off while driving, and stopped at stop lights. The dealer hasn't called back. My appt is July 7th.

When the light came on I was headed out of town on a planned trip. I contacted the dealer. They basically told me they were scheduling a month out and there wasn't anything they could do. Bring it by to have the code read. I was told "a lot of our cars are going down right now, I don't know what's going on." How confidence inspiring. He told me the vehicle was safe, and bring it in for the code to be read.

I took the vehicle in 4 days later (as soon as I could), on June 10th 2021. The vehicle now had 2,024 miles. Only 1,800 when it happened and just after the free WiFi expired.

Given the issues I've had, I have added anxiety while driving the van, but don't have another vehicle to drive to and from work.

To add to the issues of the Pacifica my manual third row seat is now STUCK. I can't get it to fold flat, it happened today when I needed the full cargo space of the vehicle.

I've already started collecting my receipts and looked up our states Lemon Law. I don't anticipate having this van much longer from the sound of Chrysler's reputation. I made a mistake purchasing this.

My 2021 Pacifica Hybrid has a similar issue (Service Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) warning light and AEB off indicator light are on) and also its cruise control is not working. UCONNECT would not allow to set AEB to on from off position.

I had to drive my Pacifica w/o the cruise control for more than 3200 miles on interstate highways. I just had 10,000 mile oil change. My dealer service could not fix these problems but found the star case number S2123000026.

Does anyone know the latest status on S2123000026?

My 2021 Pacifica Hybrid started having this exact problem two days ago. The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) OFF Indicator Light came on while driving on the freeway. I get the Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) Unavailable Service Required message when I try to turn it back on in Settings. I've also lost cruise control. Still have the problem after I tried a factory reset under Settings, cleaned the forward camera lens and sensor and no indication of any damage to these.

Has anyone else resolve the problem with a Forward Facing Camera replacement in addition to 21Pacifica? I've read elsewhere some people were able to solve this problem with a software update as well.

I have a 2021 Pacifica AWD (Gas, not Hybrid), and I seem to be experiencing similar problems, intermittently but frequently. The specific warning lights that are coming on right now are:
  • Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) Active Braking Off
  • Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) / ACC Limited Functionality Service Required
  • Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) Unavailable Service Required
  • Park Brake Temporarily Unavailable
  • Service Electronic Stability Control
The warnings generally go away when you turn the car off and turn it back on. There doesn't seem to be any obvious trigger for when the warnings will come back, but it seems to happen after a few miles, on about 50-75% of the drives. Other warnings that I think have come up, but not 100% positive are: Check Engine Light, AWD Unavailable.

I have brought the car to the dealership twice. The first time, they weren't able to reproduce the error, and therefore they weren't able to diagnose the problem. The second time, I brought the car when it was actively experiencing the problem, but unfortunately, they turned the car off before they were able to read the codes (!!!), and then, after driving the car for 20 miles, were not able to reproduce the issue. Of course, when I picked up the car, the problem recurred later that evening (after the dealership was closed).

So my current plan is to try to bring the car back to the dealership when the issue is happening and force them to do the diagnose while the problem is happening (and not turn off the car!).

I guess my questions are:
  1. Are others still experiencing this problem?
  2. Has replacing the camera been successful at fixing the issue?
  3. An other tips/tricks for accurately diagnosing the problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice/insights on how to fix this issue!

Hey there, as a matter of fact, I think we finally resolved the issue after a few trips to service department. It took a while to diagnose the problem, but after investigating a lot of the electrical and wiring modules, they identified a connector that wasn't properly clipped in, and they think that was coming loose when the vehicle was accelerating, causing all of the symptoms. We got the car back last week, and after driving it around town a decent amount, the problems fortunately have not recurred, so knock on wood, I think we are out of the woods.

Here is the final tech note from the service write-up. Hope this is helpful in case some runs into something similar

That is impressive work by that technician to troubleshoot a problem. That service department is a keeper
