Hello people,

I truly believe that my brake assistant feature does not work. I have been trying really hard to see it in action, but it never shows up. Today I brake so close to a car that the parking sensors came on and no brake assistant.
Does anyone knows how I know for sure if it works?
I have setup the brake for far and it is on in the settings.

Triggers for me more often than I would like. I get it most often when someone is turning off of the street I am on and I don't touch the brake because I know worst case I can swerve a little to the left if they suddenly stop completely leaving a couple feet of their bumper in the road. Guess I should always touch the brake in those situations.

I believe if you touch the brake at all it assumes you see the obstruction and will brake. I certainly wouldn't want to test it in a real world situation, but I do understand your desire to know it is working properly. It has some sensitivity settings you can adjust; have you set them to the most sensitive?

can we test using a cardbox maybe?

I thought about doing something like that with a trash bag full of packing peanuts, but you would need to be in a controlled parking lot or something. I also don't like the idea of the hard braking that would occur, but at least you could do it once and have peace of mind about its functionality.

Hi ninocalifa,

Per your Owner's Manual we do not recommend testing the Forward Collision Warning system. However, in your Uconnect settings (shown on pg. 624 of your Owners Manual) you can change the sensitivity of this feature as well as ensure that it is enabled. If you are still concerned the feature isn't working correctly after checking these options we would recommend visiting your local dealership for further diagnosis.

I suspect those having issues have set the sensitivity wrong. I have had mine trigger once. Driving down the freeway and an auto entering the freeway did so before coming up to speed, maybe a 30-40 MPH difference pulled on right in front of me, crossing the double white lines with the cross hatches. I had assumed since he was still coming up to speed he would allow me to pass. Before I could hit the brakes, the van did it for me.

Glad it worked for you. What level of sensitivity is yours set on?
You always have some "jack wagon" who doesn't seem to know that you don't cross a solid white line either to merge or for any other reason. I hope your horn was tested as well. And you wonder why people get shot every day, it's no mystery to me.:rolleyes

I did not read the other responses so someone may have already said it, but it works. You may have to adjust the sensitivity level. Also, do you have ACC? (I believe you do if you have emergency stop) I believe it uses the same system.

You could try putting a cone on the read or front of the car. My van applied the brakes before I hit the cone. Left about 1 foot of room. Then again, I was only going about a snail pace when I did it. I wouldn't advice doing it otherwise.

Yes, mine does that as well... rather annoying when 500 feet ahead of me and someone is turning, my car will slow down to a crawl. I have since then adjusted the sensitivity level. Now it only does that if they are at a normal car length ahead of me and turning. The crazy annoying thing is that, it will continue to stop even after they are cleared (half way through their turn, but not in front of me).

As for the touching the brakes. I do believe this will assist the brakes if you do not apply enough pressure... so, it works constantly.

It is only stopping if you are using ACC right? I have only gotten close enough to trigger the brake one time and that was backing out of my steep driveway where it interpreted the street as an obstruction. That was sort of frightening, but I don't drag so there was nothing to hit.

The ACC thing where cars turn off is quite annoying and has led me to be more selective about when I use ACC.
