Really disappointed to see bubbles (what I assume is rust starting) around the edges of the hood on my 2017. barely 2 years old. Anyone else seeing issues?

This is a known problem and the dealer should fix it for you under warranty. It isn't rust, but it has to do with the type of metal used for the hood and process of painting. Make an appointment with the dealer. Here is one thread about the issue if you are interested in reading it.

Wow, that’s a shame that this would be happening so early. I wonder what the warranty language is on that? I’m assuming that it wouldn’t be covered until it actually ‘rusts through’.

Take the van in as soon as you notice a hood paint bubble. It isn't the typical rust issue. It was a painting issue from what I understood from reading the posts.

Wow. This is interesting! I haven’t read the entire thread you referenced but it seems that the problem is the fact that the hood is made of aluminum and not steel. I know that when dissimilar metals are joined there can be some sort of galvanic process that causes a tiny electric current to run through the joint and I believe that can cause corrosion. I’m not highly familiar with the process so my description of what is happening may not be entirely accurate. At any rate, I just now grabbed a fridge magnet and went out to the garage to check the van. To my surprise, both side passenger doors as well as the hood and the back hatch are made of non-ferrous metal (magnet didn’t stick). However, the front doors and all four fenders appear to be ferrous (magnet sticks).

Thanks for pointing me to this. This explains why I didn't see the other posts/threads as I searched the forum for "rust" vs bubbles. We are going to take our van to the dealership - once we find a new one (dealership that is). Our current one is not customer service focused at all :-(

Thanks Alex, we will be having a dealer address this. Seems the bubbles can be worse some days than others (or maybe it's my eyes ;-) but I will be taking it in on a 'worse day'. I will take a look at your link and Google as well and review dealerships and circle back with you via PM.
