I'm sorry to see this! Please keep us posted on the repair.

I just bought a 2017 Limited from a CJDR dealer with 2 kind of large areas on the leading edge of the hood. Do I go back to the dealer first, or will Chrysler arange a repair?

You have to go through a dealer to get documentation and photos of the issue that gets sent to Chrysler for approval.

Found bubbling happening on my wife's 2017 after being stationed away for a year. Chrysler says they won't fix it under warranty because its over the milage, even though this is clearly a manufacturing issue and was probably happening under warranty in the spots hidden under the hood. Now I have to get a quote to see how much they will "help out" for me to fix their poor quality product. I paid way too much money for this thing to have the paint come off after 3 years. Seems like poor business model to accept that, as long as it's after the warranty, you are perfectly fine saying 3 years is an acceptable life span for the paint job on a 40k van. Will update with the process for everyone else who will eventually have this problem. If they don't cover this i'll probably just let it keep growing and chip off so that everyone knows what they are getting when they buy a Chrysler, no point in polishing a turd. I didn't have high expectations for trade in value anyways. Below is a pic of the biggest spot but there are small spots all along the underneath of the hood. No chips or breaks just poor application of paint to an aluminum hood. I never deal with warranty crap because most of the time it is just wear and tear, this is completely on the production process, i'm beyond irritated.

I also have a 2017 Limited Pacifica that is bubbling/rusting at the bottom edge of the hood. Seems to be a defect. There should be a recall for this. Love this van but the Quality?

This topic has been discussed endlessly on this forum. See your Chrysler dealer. They should fix it free. It is not subject to recall, because your Pacifica will run safely forever with bubbles on the hood. There is a TSB covering the proper procedure for repainting.

Who are the four guys in your avatar? I hope it's not a group shot of a chapter of Trolls Anonymous. :giggle:

Purchased my 2018 Pacifica in November 2018 and have had multiple issues since purchase! I noticed the paint bubble along the hood in March of 2020. Been getting runaround from the dealership since they reopened in May Due to Covid. Decided last week to contact Customer Care...was told someone would call me back within 48hrs. Have not received the call a week later so I guess it’s probably safe to assume this is going to be a hassle getting fixed! My last 3 vehicles have been new Chryslers and the Pacifica will definitely be my last Chrysler product. Chrysler quality continues going down hill and very poor customer service.

Your dealer (any you choose) has to take a picture of the paint bubbles and submit it to Chrysler for authorization. Has this step happened?

My suggestion to anyone with this problem is that you select a dealer with a good in house body shop. They are probably best trained in the rather complicated process required to properly fix it.

My bubbling paint was fixed. The ordered a new hood, had it painted locally, and installed it. I was concerned about color matching with the sun falling but it's spot on.

I have the same issue, 2 spots on theleading edge of my hood. Mine is a 2018 and out of warranty due to the mileage. I guess I'm out of luck with the dealership!

The corrosion warranty is 5 years/unlimited mileage. Contact your local CDJR dealership!

Found a paint bubble on our less than 1 year old Pacifica. Our local dealer is waiting on Chrysler to approve the repair. Hoping for a fast turn around to get this fixed before it gets worse.

2017 with same issue. I see there are many threads regarding this problem! We just took out to dealership last week and we’re told it’ll take weeks before they hear back from Chrysler. She led me to believe because we’re out of basic warranty it would be our cost!?! This better not be the case given that it’s a known problem. Very curious for anyone who’s had a repair done if they are experiencing the same problem?? So frustrating spending SO much on a vehicle for this to happen after only a few years!

It did take about 2 weeks for the digital images to make it to Chrsyler for approval, at least that's what I was told. I'm thinking it was more an issue of them not sending them and some weird thing where one dealerships body shop had another local dealership file the actual warranty claim... it was odd.

The corrosion warranty should be for a period of 5 years and unlimited mileage. I would think that if you are outside of that 5 year window, it may not be approved.

Thanks! My fingers are crossed it doesn’t take months and it’s all covered.

WE have 2017 Pacifica and bubbles on hood. Service dept has ordered us a new hood under warranty. I wonder if the new hood will be same materials and if same thing will happen again. There was no notification from Chrysler to us.

There are hundreds of posts here on this topic. This was a manufacturing process defect, not a choice of materials. Chrysler, and all other vehicle manufacturers, do not notify on problems that do not relate to safety or impaired usage.

I took mine to the dealership body shop on a Thursday, they had me scheduled for Monday and I got the van back on Thursday. No fuss, didn't say anything about getting approval from anyone. They just took care of me. In every way my local dealership just takes care of me..

When I had a Chrysler minivan in the late 70's the paint literally came off in sheets. Chrysler said it was out of warranty, it's not our problem. Google "Chrysler peeling paint: and select images and you'll see how bad it was. I said I'll never own another Chrysler product even if they gave me one, but I was wavering with the Pacifica. But with this bubbling paint issue I've taken it off my wish list.
