Hi. We really love the Pacifica and nervous about choosing the right one and actually getting a good deal. All help/insight appreciated!!

We've looked at getting a used 2017 Pacifica Touring L. We have found one for $22990 that has 22002 miles.
We've also found a 2017 Touring L plus for $26,993 that has 20499 miles. We've have not gone to look at them, just found them online. Is the $4k difference worth it for the L plus?? How much do you negotiate down?? I believe both were rentals.
Thank you!

FWIW, go for a 2017 Limited, I know it will be a bit more money but well worth it. And then you'll have everything, without the new car price.
I just couldn't wait. Got mine in September, and traded in a 2016 Dodge Caravan R/T !!!
Absolutely love my Limited.
With the way the market is going, it already paid for mine!

It really depends on what your preferences are. Does the Touring L Plus have the entertainment screens on the back of the front seats? Would you use that? If you want to play CDs and not transfer music to a USB right away, then the entertainment package is supposed to play CDs. Does either one have Adaptive Cruise Control (that slows you down if you get too close to the vehicle in front of you)?

I have a Touring L with 18,000 miles on it and am happy with it. I had wanted a CD player, but I didn't need an entertainment system. It wasn't worth the extra cost to me, but it might be to others. We were able to use a computer to put our CDs onto a USB stick and I am happy with that.

Which ever one you get, be sure to check the forum if you notice any problems. There will probably be a few software updates that need done even if the dealer should have done them. You could also check the VINs with ChryslerCares (by PM them by clicking on the red letters in the left margin) in any post they made to see how the vans are covered under the warranty if they were rentals.

I'm not a great negotiator, but I would at least check Kelley Blue Book used car values online to get another reference point for prices.

There is a new recall pending (announced Jan 12) for the 2017 gas Pacificas to address the stall issue that some vans have had. I am not concerned about it since I haven't had a problem, but I will get the software update done when it is available.

Maybe if you give us links to both listings we can take a look at the differences? Some of us are pretty good and comparing Window Stickers if the VIN is listed.

Also check the manufacture build date, pre Sept 2016 builds have a lower safety rating (I forgot what exactly, reinforcement of the door hinges?). Then I think around Dec 2016 they started to add ESS (Electronic Start-Stop System) to the engines.

I went with a Limited, but you'd be spending at least $40k minimum for that trim, even for a used one from a dealer if you include Taxes, Title, Reg.

Thank you.
The entertainment center is not really a deal breaker for us. I would be fine with just the one overhead screen which I think one of the Ls I'm looking at has, but I'm not 100% sure if it does.
I'll have to check into the adaptive cruise control. Thank You.
I haven't seen anywhere a manufacturing date in the pics. Is this something I could ask the dealer?

Mostly nervous on how much to negotiate on a used car.
Will try to send links!

I tried posting links, but it won't let me due to low post count. I tried to pm you them if you'd like to check them out!

The manufacture date (month/year) is on the edge of the driver's door and can't be seen when the door is shut. It is below the latch. (It is not on the sticker with tire pressure.) The dealer should be able to tell you this information. If there is an original type of window sticker you can click on, the month and day built are by SL above the bar code. The 2017 Pacificas were built from Jan or Feb 2016 until late summer of 2017. There are threads about manufacture date if you are interested in them.

The other thing to notice is whether the Touring L has the 8.4 touchscreen or the smaller one. I think the Touring Plus may come with 8.4. The 8.4 touchscreen is very nice to have since so many things are accessed through it.

The overhead DVD player may have a way to play CDs also. I think someone mentioned a USB slot in it as well. There are threads on this as well. Look at the systems carefully if it matters.

So they all look like previous rentals

Touring L's:
The first one is pretty much base, but has the DVD overhead, older build

I am not the best person as I didn’t really look at either of those trims, I just went straight for the Limited.

As for how much to negotiate down, most of us bought new. Maybe just compare with KBB and negotiate like how you would do with other used cars? Hopefully someone with experience buying used sees your thread :smile2:

Of the Touring L's, I would vote for the second one if you don't need the DVD feature:
The second one is similar to my van and I am happy with it. The one listed has the 8.4 touchscreen and the better Navigation with HD radio. (I had to activate the navigation on my 8.4 touchscreen and it isn't as good as the one that comes already working.) Build date of 12/27 has to be 2016 or later (better safety rating) since I think they started building 2017s in Feb or March 2016. Black/alloy interior on my van has black seats and carpet and a combination of alloy and black in other places.

The first Touring L could have been built 11/17/16 and have the better safety rating, but has the 5.0 touchscreen. You might need to see what you think of the interior since it has cognac as an interior color which I think might be a brown.
The third one is probably the pre Sept 2016 build since is says 7/15 and may have a VIN number smaller than mine.

The Touring L Plus has more features, but you need to decide if they are worth it. The Touring L Plus has the entertainment system, second row heated seats, heated steering wheel, power passenger seat and power passenger seat stow and assist, 115 aux power outlet that the second Touring L doesn't have. The 8 passenger seating would be helpful if you have three kids/people that you want to have in the second row. This Touring L Plus doesn't appear to have the Adaptive Cruise Control which some have.

You need to decide how much the better safety rating means to you since the Touring L Plus is pre Sept. 2016 from what I can tell.
