I did test today using Chromecast, I plug hdmi to the port and USB to the USB port, then config the wifi that both cell phone and Chromecast connecting to the Uconnect WIFI, then I can play YouTube without issue. Next step I will find a spare cell phone and keep charging in the car with allowing Uconnect wifi only so that in the future that can be the 'remote controller' for the Chromecast.

I wondering why FCA doesn't provide a HDMI port in the front console so that i dont need to worry about my kids unplugging it.

Tested today with 1st generation chromecast. Connect the device directly to my cell phone by using hotspot on my phone. There are some issues to cast entire screen. The picture will flash and scroll up or down occasionally. Sometimes missing sound.

The 2018 models support WiFi Direct and Display Mirroring using Miracast protocol.

Amazon Fire Tablets support this protocol.

Wouldn't a Fire Stick be better since it has its own remote?
Isn't the touch screen a remote?

Not to mention some phones support Miracast so you can skip the whole convoluted tethering-the-chrome-cast-to-your-phone thing. Unlimited Verizon plans also throttle tethering.

The 2017 don't?
I always thought this was a 2018 feature. Now that I look I guess the manual does mention it in the 2017.

Does the 2017 have this feature? I always thought the 2018's "new uConnect Theater with Streaming" referred to this.
