Chryslercares: I've read people say the warranty prohibits towing, not hitches.

I want a hitch to put a bike rack on our Pachy. If I end up having a transmission problem someday down the road, is chrysler going to give me problems because I have a hitch, if I have not ever towed something with it?

That is a very good question. I’m thinking of getting a hitch too but it will only be used for a bike rack or a very light duty utility trailer that I sometimes use to haul stuff that generally weighs less than 200 lbs.

I don't see why a bike rack would cause any issues due to ability to fold seats down and haul packages/items inside your vehicle. I personally wouldn't tow a trailer with it ,but a 4 or 5 person bike rack should not be a issue as it would be the same as putting the bikes inside the vehicle.

I had a 2 inch hitch done at the Chrysler dealership with Mopar parts - I don't see why this would cause any warranty problems - I asked them multiple times. also use it for bikes -works great. It is MUCH nicer than aftermarket as it is built into the bumper so it is not as low as the aftermarket ones . Cost was higher approx 900$ total but i think it is worth it.

Pacifica has 1500 lb. towing capacity without the tow package with heavy duty radiator...bikes and jet ski should be fine.
Check again which forum you're posting in. The towing capacity of the hybrid is zero, though that doesn't preclude installing a hitch for a bike or luggage rack.

I'll see if my dealer will install one. I see chryslercares hasn't commented on this. Kinda assumed they wouldn't.

Hi steffen707,

Thanks for reaching out. While trailer towing is not permitted with this vehicle, you can refer to your vehicle's maximum load information to determine the acceptable load weight for any accessories you wish to carry. You can find details on the tire and loading information placecard, which is listed on the driver’s side B-Pillar or the rear edge of the driver’s side door, and please refer to the "Vehicle Loading" section of your owner's manual on page 370 for more information. Please note: as with any accessories added to your vehicle after it leaves the factory, this is not covered by your vehicle's factory warranty, nor are any repairs needed due to the use of accessories. If you have further questions, please PM us any time!
