Code U1124 Bulletin Number 08-034-18 Battery heater repair out of warranty

I was wondering if anyone knew if this repair will fall under the High Voltage battery warranty? I've called two separate dealers. One just kept telling me I'd have to bring it in and pay the $150 diagnostic fee to "find out if the warranty will cover it" and the other basically said the same thing just much nicer and a lot less lazy.(they actually called a tech and asked but the tech basically told them to tell me the same thing). I have the max care coverage but one seemed to indicate whether it was covered or not I'd have to pay the diagnosis fee. The other said it would be reimbursed. So was wondering if anyone has had any experience on this? Just trying to figure out if I'm going to be out $250, $100, or $0.

Was also wanted to get the 4 RRTs that are out for the 2018's two which should be covered under the engine/hybrid battery warranty. Neither would tell me if they'd do it under warranty or not on that either. One said $35 an RRT and the other said "you'll find out when we scan your van" which is fairly frustrating cause I'm sure that also includes another $150 diagnostic fee for them.

I should also state that on the RRTs the first one claimed nothing but the 36-month bumper to bumper covered it. Even the max care warranty doesn't cover it.

Thanks for the replies.

How many months and how many miles are on your van?

Believe at this time it is 43 months and 14,640 miles.

Wow, you don't drive it much. The warranty booklet is not very clear on what parts of the battery that's covered or not. You'll have to get it diagnosed to see if it's covered under the battery warranty or not. My guess is since the battery needs the heater to operate correctly, it will be covered under warranty. It would suck if it's not covered.
I’d say roll the dice and get it scanned because your over 3/4 of a year over the inservice date . And we all know what happens when things get left unattended too for long periods of time , good luck .

I think the thing that bothers me the most about this whole thing is that I can't find a single person Chrysler cares chat or dealers that can tell me specifically

A. What does the High Voltage Battery Limited warranty cover(the two dealers didn't know there was such a thing and chrysler cares can't tell me either from their chat only to "take it to the dealer and they will tell me whether the warranty covers it)
B. I can give any of them the bulletin number and none of them can tell me if it will be fixed under warranty even though they have my vin and everything.(I can completely understand though if it's not what is actually wrong but the bulletin shows all-time allowances and reimbursements so they should be able to tell me. They all say take it to the dealer and pay the $150 diagnoses fee.)
C. Whether or not the diagnose fee is really reimbursed by max-care if it falls into max-care(if max-care will even cover it because by what I've read certain hybrid components are covered by the hybrid warranty instead but none of it is documented).. Specifically the provision in the max-care document that says "Repairs or replacement to components covered by the Hybrid System Limited Warranty (refer to Warranty booklet for details); " - Found provision that states
"DIAGNOSTIC CHARGES: You may be asked to authorize disassembly and/or diagnostics at the time your Vehicle repair order is written. Your Plan covers disassembly and/or diagnostic charges IF the cause of failure is a covered component under the terms of the Plan. If the repair is not covered by the Plan, you will be responsible for paying the disassembly and/or diagnostic charges and non-covered repairs. " so they will reimburse so at least that is answered.

Feels like I'm walking into surgery without getting a cost break out first.

Anyways #_# sorry if it sounds like I'm taking it out on your or something.. Just got off chat with Chrysler cares and that is all they repeat "Take it to the dealer" and "we don't know what the warranty covers take it to the dealer to find out". That is simply frustrating.

No it’s all good and I get what your saying , . The problem is that unless it’s scanned they won’t know the issue and there is the issue that it’s not the battery but a sun component of the battery . If you were close to the warranty date I’d say things would be a lot easier but 3/4 of a year is pretty far . And I definitely feel your frustration but you really need the diagnostic results before opening up a case .
An update I took the Van to the dealer when the code was showing after talking with the service manager. He read the codes and told me it should be covered under the hybrid warranty. I asked about the RRT updates that Chrysler Cares mentioned in a PM and he claims none will be covered under any warranty to his knowledge which is different from what I've read about people on here and on facebook saying all but 1 is not covered under the power train and hybrid warranty. When I brought this up with Chrysler cares they immediately back-peddled saying I'd need to check with the dealer. It still amazes me updates that would save chrysler money on warranty repair are considered "pay only"..
Salt sludge ice is what I'm told makes the old defective low voltage connector the most unreliable. I made the mistake of erasing the code so the yellow exclamation indicator light would not be permanently on. This way if something else went wrong the yellow light would come back on again. My mistake. Although the code is saved in the van's memory, the Service Centre said it's "no longer active" - so their hands are tied unless I want to pay out-of-pocket. I imagine just going through the carwash may reactivate the code, only I've already paid over $100 for the Diagnostics once - having to wait over a month just to get in to have them fleece our finances (30 seconds to hookup /read a code) . With covid & lockdowns - everybody seems to be working at a snail's pace so I wanted to get the part ordered up front even though I have to pay - and hopefully get reimbursed. Spending over an hour in the parts department to order the connector, THEY COULD NOT EVEN FIND IT!! Can someone please tell us what the connector part number is?? Our poor service department is sadly incompetent - and they need anyone's help if you have the part number written down somewhere.
