I just bought a new Touring-L. Very pleased but I ran into an unusual problem. I kept hearing this metal on metal sound which seemed like it was coming from the sliding door somewhere - it was driving me nuts. I was considering bringing it back to the dealer to find the rattle. What really confused me was the fact I didn't hear it all the time. I finally found the problem. There was a big screw rolling around in the sliding door deck stuck in a corner and out of sight. So every time the screw rolled the "rattle" surfaced. I can't find where the screw came from. Glad I solved that!

Welcome to the forum! Glad you were able to track down the noise. That can drive you nuts!

I had this exact same issue. Found what appears to be an aluminum bolt with a recessed star head rolling around the bottom tray of the driver side sliding door. Tried looking around there with a flashlight and feeling around with my hand and can't for the life of me find where it came from. Not hearing any other rattles from the screw it might have been attached to so may just wait until my next service to ask the techs if they can figure out where it came from.

Interesting. I may have the same rattle sound as you and perhaps mine is in the passenger door. It is hard to pinpoint while driving as I asked my wife sitting in the passenger seat if she hears it. She thinks I am crazy. I leaned towards the center while it was rattling, and the rattle sound went away. I learned back to the drivers seat, and the rattle was audible again. Maybe it is coming from the sliding door?

Anyhow, sounds like a baby rattle. I also noticed a rolling sound when I turned a sharp turn, and the rattle went away. It comes and goes.

My Mazda cx-9 with 55,000 miles on it that I traded in for this van never rattled. Not even a creak. This has 400 miles on it and rattles. I also noticed a creak in the drivers and passenger side window pillars as it flexes. Sometimes, I can hear the wiring move around on the passenger side pillar.

I hate to bring it in to get this fixed but I know it won't go away. I bought that extended warrant thing too... so do I have to pay the $100 deposit?

No, if you bought an extended warranty with a deductible, that deductible only applies after the standard warranty expires.

Thanks. I knew you would have the answer without me having to tag you ;)
