Hi All,

I recently placed my order in for my Platinum PHEV. My wife has been watching youtube videos where people record front and rear video (when driving and in parking lots) and feels that it would be worth looking into. Does anyone know whether the the built in cameras be used for such purpose (I personally don't think so).

If not, are there any systems/brands you've used in the past that you would be willing to recommend.

Thanks in advance.

I went through a few dash cams before finding a winner. To me, it was all about how large some cameras were and how they hung down into my view.

I've had the one linked below for a few years and it's awesome. It's so small, I mount it in the windshield behind the rear view mirror and i don't even know it's there unless I look for it.

You might have different priorities, but I can't stand anything obstructing my view.

Note, there might be a new version of this camera... that item is a few years old and isn't even prime any more.

How do you power yours? I would not want a cord running down from the mirror.
Thanks, John

I got the A119S about a month ago and it seems to be doing well thus far. It's utilizing a Sony CMOS sensor so the picture quality is excellent. It's only a 1 channel DashCam, and for now, it's sufficient. I may pick up a second, cheaper one for the rear, but I'm waiting on a good deal on a low profile model with good night visibility that i can route the power through the tailgate and into the rear 12v socket.

Kudos. Just needs to be angled-down... heheheh... too much sky.
I am contemplating this myself.
Yes it was placed in the smartphone holder and was temp for demo purposes. I didnt bother installing it because I knew sometime this year I would be getting a new vehicle. I need to install this soon now that I have the Pacifica.

That is the same dimensions as the rexing. only difference is the power controls on yours is at the end, where mine is off to the side. Key feature to look for is wide angle lens... otherwise, not worth it.

Here is just how small the Rexing dash cam is. This is where I will mount mine too. I just need time to do so.

Exactly where I mounted mine. About to do a hardwire into the mirror. Will post plenty of pictures when I do. Camera is almost invisible there...
That was my thoughts exactly. From the outside, it just looks like an extension of all the other factory cams and sensors already there.

@Gohawks1224 HA! You ran a red!
Quality looks great. So how many files or how many min of video will end up being held with the way your video compressed with say a 32G or whatever card?

Too bad Chrysler did not provide for recording of front and rear 360 cameras on those autos that have that option. Would be nice to have in an accident or whatever.
I would really like an OEM system that records from the available installed surround view cameras. I don't think there's any car that does it. Manufacturers probably want to avoid any potential lawsuits based on that / privacy concerns. But I can't stop thinking how easy it would be for them to simply program it without much additional hardware needed (may be offer a memory card that stores for a day / two as an extra option).

This weekend I will be attempting to 2 dash cam in our new Pacifica. One will be on the front windshield and the other will face out the rear window. Does any one have any good advice on hard wiring these? I know this minivan has a ton of airbags and I want to make sure not to run the wires in the deployment path. Also I need to find a good power wire so when it in acc/run the camera gets power.
