I dont know if this is the case but the LED line on the bottom of the headlight only turns on when the headlight is on, it does not turn on when the daylight running light is on, is this what everybody has? mine is a touring L

Thanks

daytime running lights

Thats how mine work also.
Yup, I would have thought they'd be the string of LED's as well. Mine were off until yesterday when I found the default in "settings" is "off".

where is the turn on and off for it? there is a separate turn on and off for the led?
Bad picture. Light was too bright and my camera makes the LED thickness look huge but if you look closely you can see the headlights are off.

Also activating the parking brake turns DRL off according to the manual.

Daytime Running Lights — If Equipped
The headlights or LED light bars on your vehicle will illuminate when the engine is started. This provides a constant lights on condition until the ignition is turned OFF. If the parking brake is applied, the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) will turn off. Also, if a turn signal is activated, the DRL lamp on the same side of the vehicle will turn off for the duration of the turn signal activation. Once the turn signal is no longer active, the DRL lamp will illuminate.

No, I was referring to the running lights, which seem to be the headlights and not the LED strings. I really wish we could make the LED's the running lights but I don't know how. Sorry if I confused things

What determines if it is the headlights or the LED bars? Is it the trim level or just the whim of whoever wrote the light sequence code in the vehicle's computer?
All I can find in settings is daylight running lamps off. I assume if I uncheck that the led lights come on and the daylight running lamps are off.
BrettP's pic shows just the LED bars on and working without the headlights... Question is... What position is your headlight switch in? Auto?

Can anyone run the LED lights by themselves during the day (well with tai lights on of course) without having to manipulate the headlight switch?
Maybe this will help...

It implies based on the video and the sequencing of the images that in the auto position the LED lights should come on without the headlights.

I think I was in the first detent position to the right of OFF for that nighttime picture. I think AUTO would have favored headlights over running lights at night.

Thanks for posting the video, cue003. Those help a lot!

I think that only happens when you remote start the car the headlight will not be on but the led light be on, i noticed that last night
The string of LEDs are the Daytime Running Lights. They can be enabled or disabled through the Uconnect menu (cannot be disabled in Canada). When enabled, they will be on even when the headlights are off.

not true sorry, but the on and off daytime running lights in uconnect is not the string of LED, i tried this several time, it turns off and on the daytime running lights but not the led bar

Really? That's an odd departure from other Chrysler products. Which lights are used for the Daytime Running Lights?
Okay, after a little more research, I think I see what's going on here. With the halogen headlights, the Daytime Running Lights are just the low beam lights at reduced wattage. But that wouldn't work with the HIDs that come in the Limited, so the Limited uses the LEDs for DRLs. That's why Brett's Limited shows the LEDs on without the headlights. Naughtyca, I bet yours is not a Limited?

If this is correct, then it's important to know for anyone without a limited that would want to swap their bulbs to HID. Based on what you're saying they won't have any DRL?
And how will LED's operate?

You can't just swap a bulb to get HIDs. You'd have to get an aftermarket conversion kit, which I'm not sure even exists for the Pacifica. I would imagine if you were to replace the headlights with such a kit, you would lose the DRLs unless you could find a way to make them use the LEDs.
