My 2020 Pacifica Hybird engine light came on with code P0A43 Drive Motor ‘A’ Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent. Call dealer said it was ok to drive until my appointment on 9/2/21. Not that I don’t trust the person I talk to. Is it safe to drive with this code. It is driving normal except for the engine light being on. I just want to make sure. Maybe someone has had this problem before.
Thanks for any help

My 2020 PACHY has the same code. It’s at the dealership now and they want to replace the entire transmission. They said they have to work with Chrysler engineers on this. I’m very concerned about a 9 month old can needing a new transmission.

Did they replace it yet? Did anyone else have the problem where the check engine light also turned off after throwing the P0A43 code? I left in my garage for a day and when we started it this morning to take it to the dealer the light was off.
This is my current issue as well. I made sure to drop the van off at the dealer with the check engine light on, but it turns off as the vehicle sits for a couple of hours. The stored codes were able to be pulled, so I don't see why they "need" to get the CEL to turn back on before fixing the issue. The van has been at the dealer for 7 days now, and they've driven it 185 miles at this point, with no CEL reoccurring. Prior to me dropping off the van, it stalled twice on the highway while doing about 75 mph on electric, and I was in the far left lane; it's an extremely dangerous situation to be in, so I'm in no hurry to pick that thing up unfixed.

I dropped it off with the light off. I just checked in they said there was a couple of bulletin updates that were needed but that was it that they could find. Hopefully it’s not to big of a deal since it went off by itself.

I hope it's not a big deal in your case. Prior to the stalling issue, the check engine light came on and went away a couple of times without any performance issues. Then, when the check engine light came on the next time, the van stalled on the highway about a minute later. So, my advice is to make sure you're in the right most lane if you're on the highway and the check engine light comes on, at least be prepared for a stall. The display will tell you to put the van in park, so you'll need to pull over, come to a stop and put the van in park. I've found that you also have to completely turn off the van and open the door to completely shut it down before it will restart. Again, hopefully this won't happen to you, but at least you'll know what to expect if it does

It's most likely an issue with the actual Drive Motor A inside the transmission housing, transmission replacement is the only solution I've seen with for this. As I understand it, every time the ICE engine switches to electric and vice versa, or with regenerative charging, drive motor A needs to be properly aligned. Misalignment will throw this error code, and can also cause the vehicle to stall. From what I've read on these forums, this misalignment can also cause wear on the gears in the transmission motor, since owners who have had their transmission fluid inspected found metal shavings in the fluid. I feel that Chrysler will always go for the cheaper replacements first, but this just kicks the can, and causes you to have an unreliable vehicle repeatedly in the shop for much longer than necessary. I hope you have are able to get in touch with Chrysler and get your van fixed quickly!

They P0A43 code is back I dropped it of at the dealer. They said they will have to talk to Chrysler to figure out what to do, This is the 3rd time for the code. Sounds like they should change the transmission. I wonder how long its going to take them to fix it this time! I have about 25,800 + i hope they don't keep patching it up and kicking the can down the road when the warranty runs out!

Have you created a case yet with Chrysler? If not, I'd recommend getting that started and escalated; nothing got done properly with my van until I escalated my case to a "Customer Retention Specialist". The dealerships do not know how to fix these vans

Created a case. I was just told buy the dealer they have to replace the transmission. I called back Chrysler they said I don't have rental coverage!! Then they said I could pay for a rental out of pocket and see later if they would cover it. I complained and told them I do, its still under warranty. Then they said well yes you have $40 a day rental but want me to pay out of pocket. Chrysler doesn't care or back their vehicles like they should.

I'm glad the dealership is going to fix your van, that's a win anyway. We were fortunate enough to get a loaner from the dealership while our van was in for repairs for 6 weeks. They do reimburse for rental, obviously $40 a day is not going to cover it, but it's something, and you do have to pay upfront. Have you checked with your dealer to see if they have loaners available? It may also be worth it to see when they would have a loaner available, and you could drive the van until they can swap with you. That's what we did

I have had the same issue that has popped up and turned off many times for over a year. It has been to the dealer a few times but most of the times they say they updated the software and send me on the way. They are finally ordered the Transmission for replacement. I hope that fixes the issue. Note to myself going forward is that make sure the Dealer has loaner vehicles for you as the $40 coverage will not cover any car. If the light comes on again after the transmission replacement i will request buy back or lemon law.

Mine ended up getting a new transmission and a new PIM. Goodluck. They kept looking at it and said they couldn't find the issue like 3 times before actually changing the transmission. They had the vehicle in and out for over 4 months. So it finally completed this June. I also called chrysler cares during that time and working on a buyback so I suggest you do that and keep complaining. If you can request a vehicle buyback and see what they can do for you. Also note if ur out of warranty.... The transmission and hydrid system is over 100k warranty for 10 years. The reason transmission has the hybrid system warranty is because the electric motor is in it. Just incase the dealer suggest you are out of warranty.

Hi Everyone,
My Chrysler Pacifica 2018 Hybrid plugin with +120000 miles came up POA43 code.
The transmission made a big noise “ creek creek creek when I pushed on gas pedal.
I followed from online to reset it by pushing Engine Start/ Stop two times with out Break. Then pushed Gas Pedal for 20 seconds. After pushed Engine Start/Stop to turn off.
Turn on car and drive. The noise was gone.
I used Fix Adapter to clear Engine Light and the Light wasn’t come out for one week.
The Light came out again with out noise. I reset again.
I will let you know again later but I was very happy with out noise of transmission.
Good luck Everyone.

I have a P043A code that the first dealer cleared and then told me they wouldn’t be able to fix for months. Took it to a second dealer and they couldn’t find a code and wouldn’t rely on the work of the other dealer due to BS red tape. Chrysler corporate told me to go drive my car some more so it would act up and get a new code again (aka die in middle of highway). Getting a lawyer….
