Greetings folks,

I bought a 2018 Pacifica hybrid about 6 months ago. I'm a little concerned about how there are occasions when I'm sitting at a stop light; foot on the brake, and the engine seems really revved up... not just normal idling, but seems to be working much harder than it should be. When it does this, sometimes I'll turn off the car for about 5 seconds, and turn it back on. 50% of the time when it turns back on, it is totally quiet. The other half of the time when I turn it back on, it resumes the hard idling.

There was a recent recall about a concern of the motor being "out of sync," I was hoping that the problem I describe above would have been corrected with the patch, but it was not.

Anyone else have this issue, or know what I'm talking about?

Thanks all,

Brett

The engine generally doesn't idle; if it runs it does so for a reason, either to produce torque while accelerating, to generate electric power, or to warm up for fuel and oil refresh mode. So you really never have the engine running quietly at minimum RPM like you would in a conventional car. I would recommend letting it do it's thing and not shutting it off until you get to your destination.
