My 2017 Pacifica engine will not start, but the panel and radio come on. I get two error messages, "Service Electronic Stability Control" and "Service Antilock Brake System". When I scroll through the vehicle information screens, the battery is showing low power (8.8V). Do I have a battery issue or should I be looking at something else?

I'd certainly replace that battery first. There's a good chance it is causing the other two error messages. If you have ESS, check the condition of both batteries.

Sounds like a battery issue. When my van had a dead battery, it showed a similar low power also. See if the van can be jump started and driven to a place where the battery can be checked or a new one purchased. If under three years/36,000 miles (whichever comes first), it might be covered under the OEM warranty. A low or dead battery may cause odd unrelated messages to show up on the display.

A low battery will not be able to start your vehicle. But there is still enough power to start up the radio and displays. But the low voltage is likely to trigger error messages as different sensors cannot initialize fully.

Yes, I understand that, but this van isn't like vehicles of the past with traditional battery issues. I am on my third main battery (no ESS aux battery). The first one gave error messages on the code reader when the van was in for another issue so it was tested and replaced at the dealer at 28 months. That replacement battery died 4 months later with battery failure indications that I read on the forum. The van was able to be jump started and driven to the dealer where they replaced the battery. Your battery may have had enough volts left to run the radio and display.

Welcome to the forum. If you put your van info in the signature line of account settings it will show up at the bottom of your posts. Build date is on the edge of the driver's door if interested.

So, you were all right on with your diagnosis. I've been able to start it a few more times today, so I seem to be in the clear. Based on comments above, it sounds like I may be coming to the end of the battery's life, I guess?

Glad you got it started.
I would leave the display on the battery gauge and monitor it. If you put the van in the RUN position without pressing the brake, you might get an idea of volts. Over 12V is good. While the engine is running it would probably be over 13V. (If lights are on volt reading will be lower.)
It would make sense to be researching battery replacement options and to get the battery evaluated at a battery store or elsewhere sometime. The van gauge probably isn't very accurate, but it is better than nothing.
