I've spent ~3 months and talked with a lot of dealers (I'll probably do a post summarizing my experiences with various SoCal dealers), but I finally got my red Touring-L Plus with cognac/toffee/alloy interior! Major options were:
8 Passenger Seating
Tire and Wheel Group
Hands-Free doors and liftgate
Advanced Safetytec
8.4 inch U-Connect Nav
Spare Tire

Deal was as follows:

MSRP: $44,235
Selling price: $40,221.95 (dealer discount of $4013.05 see below)
TTL + Doc fee: $4078.18 (CA tax is pretty high)
Rebates: $4500 total
Customer Cash: $1500
Conquest: $1000 (required a copy of my VW registration. No trade-in.)
Sam's Club: $1000 (dealer hesitated to try it but it went through.)
???: $1000 (Contract says Non-APR, Pacifica. I'm guessing dealer coupon.)

OTD: $39,829

I'm not sure if the dealer was trying to pulling a bait and switch.

I emailed them asking for their best price mentioning I had an offer from another dealer. Their internet sales guy quoted me $39,313 as the selling price. However, when I later asked for the OTD it was more than $1000 higher than I expected. I left him a voice mail but he didn't call back.

I ended up driving about 100 miles to the dealer, Poway Chrysler, to see what was up. They had the car and after a long and detailed credit application despite the fact I wasn't financing (who has 3 references ready on demand?) they presented me with the too high OTD. I called them out on it and showed them the quoted price plus a spreadsheet with the expected OTD that I hod worked out.

The sales manager (aka closer by the sales guy) left for a bit and came back with the above deal which was within $50 of my expected OTD. I think that was because the selling price was higher but they added the extra $1000 rebate which resulted in more tax.

While working through the final paperwork with the financing guy, he offered the Mopar lifetime warranty at $2580 after a little haggling. According to what he showed me, it's $50 above their cost. This is also in-line with what I've read on this forum.

Should I keep it? As I understand it, I have 60 days to cancel for a full refund. I plan on keeping the car 10+ years (my current Passat is over 14 years old.). Mileage may not be super high as my commute is only about 14 miles daily.

Also, out of curiosity, how long does the delivery process usually take? From arrival at the dealer until I left was over 4 hours. I didn't test drive and sat down to start the paperwork within 10 minutes.

I have never heard of a lifetime warranty. What does it cover? I bought an extended warranty for 3 years bumper to bumper with $0 deductible for around $2400 I think.

4 hours seems like a ridiculously long time. Did they say what they were doing while you were waiting? My paperwork took about 30 minutes. Then another 15 minutes to go over the car, but I rushed him through that since I clearly already know more about the car than he did.

Yikes, that's very expensive! Was it a Mopar warranty that you bought or something third party? I went with the 6yr/60k mile Maximum Care with $0 deductible for $1150.

Hey 17lim,

You can take a look at the Mopar Vehicle Protection (MVP) plan coverage on our website here: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/care/mopar-vehicle-protection.html

The Lifetime Max Care plans cover just about all mechanical components of the vehicle, and then some, on top of other features like rental allowance, trip interruption, key fob replacement, etc.

I got the Chrysler Maximum Care "Lifetime" with $100 deductible for $2630. There are Chrysler dealers that will sell just the warranties online or over the phone. I took the best price I found online and asked my local dealer to match the price as part of the deal.

So I pulled out my sales contract to check price. I paid $2268 at the dealer. I am pretty sure it is for 6 years $60k miles. I know that it is $0 deductible. After seeing what other people paid in the forum threads I became livid, but after checking Zeigler and Mopar max care prices online, it looks like the dealer beat me for ~$375. Unfortunately I found this forum after I bought my Pacifica. Apparently living in FL makes the extended warranty more expensive. Maybe Mopar is not too confident in the van being exposed to salt in the air for years?

Anyhow, I saw in a thread that Zeigler could no longer sell plans to those who had a plan from their dealer but canceled. Is that still true? Does anyone know if the same holds true if I cancel and then buy the max care plan through Mopar? $375 is still a good chunk of change. Then add in the $150 discount with Zeigler via Damon, if still valid, it is worth my time to try and switch.

Update: In looking further at my sales contract it states Fidelity for service contract. So my dealer did not even go with the Mopar plan :( I assume I can cancel it since I have not used it and since it seem so on be a third party, maybe I can switch to Mopar max care/Ziegler without issue?

I would definitely cancel that service contract for a refund if you can. Then buy the Mopar plan through Ziegler.

The first part was the overly long and detailed credit application despite the fact we're not financing. Then once we got the OTD price correct, we had to wait for the finance guy. Apparently, there's only 2 finance people and every sale goes through one of them. Then after doing the real paperwork with the finance guy about 15 minutes of going over the car.

Some dealers tell me I don't need to trade in for this. Some dealers say I need to trade in the incentive. Are there separate conquest incentives? Would like to tell the dealers requesting a trade in how to do it without.
Yes, there are at least two different conquest rebates. It also changes month to month. In November there were two (in my case): one general conquest and one brand specific which both applied. In December, there was no general conquest because they raised the customer cash by $1000.

You may be able to get help by calling the Chrysler incentives line: 1-800-227-0757. I called twice. One time the person was much more helpful than the other.

Is this conquest rebate regional? I see it show up on Chrysler's webpage when you use a California zip (90210) but not when I put in my Illinois zip.

So I am in the process of canceling exetended warranty I bought through my dealer since it is a third party. However, I spoke with a Bob at Ziegler and apparently extended warranties in Florida are "state regulated" so to say. So Mopar sets the price and no one can come in lower. So the generous $150 off via the Damon promo code with Ziegler doesn't even work in Florida, not to mention we have to pay a lot more for policy than some of the awesome prices y'all are posting in the forums . :crying:

That's definitely unfortunate. But I would still swap the third party warranty for Mopar. Hopefully, it won't cost you more than the third party did.

One benefit is the lifetime warranty is transferable in a few states like Florida. You need to pay a small transfer fee. It's about $50 I think.

That is too bad that they do that in Florida! The promo code "DAMON" gives you 150.00 off, but Bob and I spoke and "DAMON2" is a newer one for us with 200.00 off!

Geico has the same thing, $13-17 for 6 months. For 6 years, that would = $612. I believe a car rental would cost extra though but they have that as well (mainly for when your car is being repaired after a crash). Rate is about the same if I remember correctly. So about $1200 for 6 years. The info is here They call it Mechanical Break Down Insurance. Bonus is you can get coverage for up to 7 years or 100,000 miles.

If only they sold GAP coverage!

You need to cancel that 3rd party contract and call Bob at Zeigler and buy the lifetime maxcare that is a Mopar contract! They will sell it as this prior contract was not even with Chrysler. I wonder how many folks assume they are getting the Mopar lifetime warranty from the dealer at these lower prices and then come to find out are actually being sold these 3rd party warranties!

Also use "DAMON2" and that gives you 200.00 off the price instead of the 150 that was the older promo code. Here is the info again.........
