Planning to get a van soon to move around growing family. Never liked the look and feel of Honda Odyssey and so obviously was impressed with new Pacifica but lot of friends/colleagues are advising against buying Chrysler vehicle (some from their own experiences). I am confused, need van in next month or two and not sure if I want to wait for 2017 Odyssey model (which is supposed to be redesigned one).

I would appreciate feedback on what current owners have to say about if Pacifica has made any good progress from old Chrysler T&C van and how does it feel if you own one for a while now.

I agree 100% on the current Honda Odyssey (I had one). Needless to say, I didn't like it. Went to a Ford Flex w/Ecoboost, man that thing was fast! But wasn't big enough, comparing to the space in a mini-van. There is a night and day difference between T&C and Pacifica though. No contest, the Pacifica wins. Nobody knows much about the new Odyssey yet. so if you need a van in the next month or two it is hard to beat the Pacifica. As far as your friends/colleagues go, I heard the same things but decided there was NOTHING else out there that even comes close to what the Pacifica has to offer. And it's using a time tested engine so no worries there. The 9 speed is relatively new but many are using it besides Chrysler (Acura, Honda, Land Rover) so I'm not to concerned with those names also using it. The Uconnect is light years ahead of Honda's and Ford's sync, so that also a plus.

Ultimately you have to make the choice based on your research and knowledge. So far I'm delighted in my Limited, and I by no means have ever been a Mopar fanboy. Just saying, they did a great job with the Pacifica.

I've owned a couple Chrysler products over the years, a Plymouth Acclaim (can't remember the year, but it was a very good vehicle), a 1997 Town & Country (my wife still misses that vehicle), and now we have a 2011 Dodge Durango with 85,000 trouble free miles on the clock and equipped with the Pentastar V6. We use this vehicle for long road trips and towing a sizeable boat. It has been a workhorse for us and has not disappointed us in the 5 years we have owned it. We recently test drove a Pacifica Limited and were duly impressed. As a result, we shifted our plan for replacing my wife's 2006 Accord from a CRV to this model Pacifica sometime in 2017. I have no qualms about buying this vehicle and look forward to the day we do. The Pacifica will become our new road trip vehicle for sure, while keeping our Durango for towing, etc.

Let's see, we've owned a number of station wagons, SUV's when they were in vogue and our last buy before the Pacifica was a 2014 T&C. We were happy with the T&C with the exception that we bought it used and it was from a rental agency. That, and it had an all black interior, really bad here in Arizona in the summer.

We are delighted with our Pacifica, red pearl exterior, cognac/alloy/toffee interior. The ride is smooth, it seems like we have more room than the T&C and we are impressed with all the safety features we didn't have in the T&C. I did a review of my impressions here: (Pacifica reviews sub-forum), and they only get better. Fit and finish appear to be high end as well. Yup, so far we're happy with our decision.

I've only become more impressed by the build quality of our Pacifica Limited over the past several weeks. It is very refined. I am pretty sure if Toyota built the Pacifica instead of Chrysler it would only be found on Lexus lots and Honda would sell it only as an Acura.

I may be a little biased, but having owned 30 Chrysler made minivans (some new, some used and flipped) I have always had one. I thought I would keep my 14 Town and Country after having a 2011...2012...2013 previos and loving the 3.6 I even bought the Chrysler bumper to bumper unlimited lifetime warranty......after taking a new Pacifica home for a couple of days, wow.....it was so much more improved in style, safety, room, comfort. I ordered one last Friday after two weeks of contemplating colors........I love the 8 pass seating option, but you can't get the sunroof with it......sunroof won. with me never having the rear seats up the idea of a 5 passenger sounded like a good idea. Again, the previous vans were awesome, but the good just got better.........
