Does anyone know why the front passenger headrest is at an angle and if there is a way to straighten it out to match the driver seat headrest?

If I remember correctly you pull it all the way forward to reset it.

Yes it is a way to straighten it up. I don't remember how. At the dealership where I bought my 2018 Pacifica he straighten it up for me. You might have to take it to a dealership to have them show you how. Sorry I was not any help.

I have a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica and I find the headrest to be uncomfortable compared to the 2004 Honda Odyssey which I have driven for the last 10 years. The headrest pushes my head too far forward, even in the most backward position that the headrest goes. It's the one complaint I have with the car. I have even turned it backwards, but that's not safe as it's too far back (and also the kids DVD screen then won't open). I am considering how I can deal with this, including having a metal shop modify it. I need it to go back another 1/2 inch.

Could you lift it higher? I haven't even touched mine as it is just right from the get-go, but I wonder if lifting the headrest would make your head hit further down and be a bit further back?

We have the same problem the first time we took it for a drive over 30 minutes. The headrests are too far forward for my wife. The headrests push her head forward even when adjusted to the rearmost position. I showed it to the dealer who gave me the Chrysler customer service number. The car is unusable because of this; who would want to drive or ride in a car with a headrest that produces headaches and cannot be adjusted any further back?

Any suggestions, please post.

I am having the same problem - the driver and passenger side headrests are positioned so far forward - compared to my previous vehicle they are very uncomfortable.

Some possible options:

1. Car Nick pillow (I have this - it helps)

2. Buy an old headrest from eBay?

3. Bend the headrest backwards - metal shop (already proposed in this thread).

I'm not sure I understand this whole complaint.
First of all, these are not Head RESTS. They are Head RESTRAINTS. They are there to minimize whiplash/neck injuries in case of an accident. They were not designed as head rests, nor are they called that in the manual.
Are people trying to use them when taking naps? The photo in the first post is obviously of a restraint that is adjusted forward. It simply needs to be pulled all the way forward and it will release to an upright position.
Many people have ridden in my van; big, small, tall, short, and no one has had an issue, even on long trips.

If you don't care about safety, they can be removed. It describes how to do so in the manual.

I'll take that POS off your hands. $26 K cash. It will put an end to your misery.

These are not as safe as having your neck straight. I see patients often that have gotten whiplash and I know the anatomy and kinematics of the spine and having your neck flexed forward like these head restraints force it, will load up the discs very excessivley.

I agree, very uncomfortable to drive. The problem lies in how the seat angle and the head restraints meet, causes too much of a change between thoracic and cervical vertebrae.

I am trying to find a solution to this, too, after putting-up with it for 2 years. The problem, as I see it, is that the initial all-the-way-back angle is still 'forward' compared to every other car I've ever driven.

I'm pretty sure the 'reason' for this unusual angle is to accommodate the flip-up screen on the back of the seat. And, if you drive with the seat reclined, the Minimum Angle of the head-rest is fine. Unfortunately, my wife likes to drive with the seat fairly straight-up (not reclined) and then the head-rest is angled forward. So she removes the headrest and turns it backwards, so that her head isn't being pushed forward. Of course, this provides her with no whiplash protection, also it blocks the flip-up screen.

Has anyone tried buying a replacement headrest, i.e., something with the same size/position posts?

Or, do the newer Pacifica's have a more reasonable headrest-angle? (I have a 2018 PHEV)

Do those of you who find it uncomfortable have your seat backs unusually vertical?
We have the front seats slightly reclined which makes the poor headrest position bearable. There's no way we could stand to drive it for very long with the seats straight up.

I wonder what's going on. I've had Odyssey for 20 years, and just a month ago got Pacifica--and I have zero problem with the headrest. I am able to adjust it to a comfortable position.

Don't confuse that with whatever Honda was doing back in 2008 or so, when they shoved every headrest forward such that your chin was almost on your chest. Not adjustable. Their answer: "if you don't like it, adjust your seat back." Federal regs came about, and Honda took awhile to figure out how to do headrests that meet them. But in 2002, and also 2007, they were fine. 2008, my dad's MDX sucked. I don't know about later.

But this Pacifica...it's just fine. If you find yours to be dramatically less comfortable than in your 04 Ody, then something's wrong with your specific headrest.
