But it did not say what changed and searching the version number brings up nothing. Could this be a OTA update for the transmission wiring recall?

I don't believe so. I believe that's the uconnect update. There's an update that updates the Uconnect to 40.1 from 38.4 which looks like the version you have. Could you check what version it is after the update? I was told that the 40.1 was only able to be done at the dealership. There's another forum thread regarding the update as well.
That is the after update. This was the first ota I have had in the 2 years of owning.

That's interesting. I wouldve expected that version wouldve come awhile ago. I have a 2018 that I purchased in 2019 and never received an update. I ended up having to take it to the dealership prior to my factory warranty ending last year to get everything up to date. And then they came out with the latest one in Jan. There's a version 40.1 now. Recall for 03A is still in progress for the earlier years from what I have read. I just received my physical letter yesterday for 2018 but nothing available for it yet so waiting.
Just thought I'll mention so the version I have currently is 39.5 and then there's the new one 40.1 which I may try and get next time I'm at the dealership. I wonder if you're is different now since it's 2020, but the screen does look the same (as in uconnect 4).
Is there a way to manually up date it?
There is but only if you can find the files
I guess I'm asking is there a way to force an over the air update

No.. and if you call uconnect they will tell you to take to the dealer.. It's their default stance. Today I raised a ticket with them asking if they'd provide me with 40.1. Told them I am very comfortable doing it myself and she agreed to do a ticket for me. So we will see but no.. sadly no way of forcing. Also, the website for updates doesn't work for our years. They no longer publicly post the updates.

Btw if this was a war. I'd be a 4-year veteran fighting with them about this crap. I've gotten all the way up to 39.5 and now just need 40.1 though I'm kind of giving up at this point cause it seems pointless to keep trying to get them to do the right thing. No reason to have to involve a dealer.

Well thanks for doing the hard work.

This is in regards to your request regarding an update.
At this time, the only way to complete this update is through the Dealership.

If you have any further concerns, please do reach back out

Have a wonderful day

Regards"

How did you conclude that the original poster has version 38.4?

Also, what makes you think that versions which are applied to 2020 hardware would be in the same sequence as software for 2018 hardware?

You can buy a map update if your vehicle is MY17-MY20 and they will send you the update/s on USB stick/s that are required before you install the map update. Did this on my previous 2018, They sent me 2 USB sticks to walk it up to the current version before updating the map. The 2018 Uconnect system is now 3 versions behind for the current owner from when I updated the Uconnect software and maps two years ago.

If you look at the screenshot after JR on the application version. That's the version number. Also, from what I know the 2018 to 2020 has the uconnect 4 with the 8.4 screen. I believe the 2021 and above are on the uconnect 5 so software version should be relatively the same.
Also, adding from the TSB 2018-2020 pacifica will have as of now the latest version of 40.1 but as of now its only dealer that will be able to update it. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10229819-9999.pdf

Oh - the screen shot where it says "34.4.0" (not 38.4...)? Which is the same as my display showed following the (very) recent OTA update.

Correct sorry mistyped it fast.

Thank you for that bulletin. I had been looking for it for a while. My 2018 is on application version 22.5 so I guess it is going to need the two step process to bring it up to date.
