In our 2017 Limited, we noticed over last 6-8 months a loud THUNK when we almost come to a stop and then start accelerating. First time it happened I thought somebody hit my van or I ran over something and pulled over to check! I took it into the dealer for other stuff and they diagnosed that two motor mounts were bad and need to be replaced and would account for this behavior. Seems like initially defective parts as van only has 26K miles on it. Parts have to come from Detroit so its a two day fix minimum for me here in Florida! I will post part numbers here after I get my invoice.

The parts arrived and they fixed it today under warranty. Too early to see a recurrence of problem yet but will post if it re-appears. Parts replaced were:
Engine Mount right side upper and lower. I attached part images.
68224746AD Insulator
68224737AB Strut-Engine

labor code was 02152202 Mount/insulator assembly, rear, shock/strut - replace right (2 - Skilled) 9055 WARR

Somewhere between 30 and 35 mph and around 2000 rpm, we get a hard shift as the rpm's drop to 1500. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, we can feel it shift and normally get a clunk sound with a slight hesitation. Sometimes we just get the hesitation (slows down for a second, then speeds back up). It didn't happen on our way to breakfast this morning, but did several times on the way back. Transmission temp was @ 136. About a month after we bought the vehicle, we were leaking transmission fluid, they replaced a cover and the work order showed that they added fluid at that time. I haven't seen any leaks since, but I'm wondering if the fluid level is a bit low.

Should I be concerned? I don't know what gear that is, but I remember that someone had posted a list of gears vs rpm vs mph a while back. I guess it really doesn't matter what gear it is though...
i have the same van 2017 limited, with the same hard shift issue at 20-35 mph

Hi ezdays and jewelcam,

If you decide to work with the dealership to get this inspected, let us know. We'd be glad to get this over to a Case Specialist for further handling. Very sorry for any inconvenience and I hope you have a great day.

I have the same problem with my van. I notice a hard shift around 15-17 mph. It feels like I get rear ended by another car. I just had it looked at yesterday for the second time. The first time I was told it required a software update. 2 days later it was doing it again. It doesn't happen all the time so it is hard for dealership to fix if not consistent is what I was told yesterday. When I picked up van service guy stated it is a glitch in software and Chrysler is working to fix it.

If you click User CP, you can edit the signature line to put info about your van (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc) which will help others when you have a question. Printing info from the forum also may help when you go do a dealer since it seems like they are still learning about this van also.

Clearing the transmission adaptations solved the hard shift problem with my van. I hope they can figure out how to solve the problem with your van soon.

I am having the same issue since I picked up the Pacific in Nov 2017. Now its April 2018. I just got the van back from the dealer for a recall and some warranty items. They said that the transmission was acting normal for a 9 speed transmission. I assured them that is was not normal. And the loaner Pacifica they loaned us didn't shift like that One of the recalls was a U1 programming thing I thought might be related but they said that had been applied several months ago the last time the van was in. The drive home from the dealer was fine but then today the hard shift around 35-40 mph was back. I'm afraid the hard shift is going to turn into something major when the warranty is expired.

I’m having the same problem with mine. A month ago it had only happened twice since January (that’s when I got it). It’s getting increasingly more common. It happened three times today!!! Of course when the dealer had it, they couldnt recreate the problem. It’s really scary. I use this van to drive my three young children around and God forbid it decides to not shift as I’m pulling out on the highway.

You can private message @ChryslerCares by clicking on the red letters of their name in the left margin of a post they responded to earlier in this thread. Send them the info about the van's problem and your VIN in the private message to see if there is anything that can be done to get the service department to fix the problem. With some persistence I was able to get a transmission software update and adaptations cleared which helped my 2017 van shift smoothly.

Info like the year, trim, gas/hybrid can be put in the signature line of the User CP so that forum members might be able to answer some questions more easily.

Welcome to the forum.

Hello Jmefelix,

As SciTchr mentioned, we'd be glad to help with this situation is you plan on continuing to work with the dealership. We're available via direct message and will need your VIN to get started.

+1 for resetting transmission adaptions. Made the dealer do that and no more hard shifts. I had to force them to do it since they said they couldn’t recreate the problem. They were jerks about it but now that it’s done, runs great.

This happens with my 2017 Pacifica. It feels like a gear is slipping or skipping and followed by a hard jerk. My husband the other day thought someone hit us from behind. This happens when I pull into parking spots and out of parking spots as well as when I'm stopped at a red light. I transfer my foot to the gas and seems to not go so I push a little harder and then slam..that same feeling that some one hit me. My car is at the dealer now for the third time for this. Two times taken while under the 36000 mile warranty and now at 37000. Fingers crossed they find it.

Previous post from - Transmission Update Flash

Hi All

I've been searching the web for a solution to resetting the memory in my transmission and I've found a solution that seems to work. It was an article about resetting the memory in adaptive transmissions in general. I'm sorry I don't have the link but the process was simple, and it worked for me. My transmission now shifts smoothly. This procedure can be preformed once a week if I so choose especially if I don't like the way it has learned to shift (because of the way I or my wife drove that week). I got this procedure from a BMW article and apparently it is the same for all or most adaptive learning transmissions. Mercedes apparently recommends doing it once a month. It goes like this:

1) turn the start switch to on, but do not start the car. All trouble lights are on and the fans in the heating and cooling systems are on if that was the position they were left in.
2) push the gas pedal right to the floor and hold it there for 10 seconds.
3) turn the start switch to off with your foot still on the gas pedal.
4) release the gas pedal, but do not put your foot on the brake pedal
5) wait for 2 minutes before starting your car. Apparently the electronics are being reset

Go for a test drive. You'll think you've got a new transmission.

That's sort of an abrasive first post. This forum is about Pacifica owners helping each other. It is not a sounding board for anger at dealers.

Introduce yourself, tell us more details about your Pacifica, the area you're from, etc. Then describe the problem and what you have done to get it solved.

Enter "hard shift" in the forum search box. You will find an answer. Find another dealer, and/or contact Chrysler Cares if they need help understanding the problem.

Didn't seem abrasive to me. I've seen a lot worse on this board. LOL! Lighten up. Stop taking things so personal.

I didn't start having problems until the recall was done on my car. It doesn't happen all the time, but there is a thud when you accelerate at times. I have 17k miles on my car.

Anyone had success taking the car in and having them fix it?

It’s not a harsh post at all. Apparently your van doesn’t have the issue. My wife now hates the 46k van that we’re stuck with. 3rd time in the shop and they’ll have it for a week this time. She’s scared to pull out in intersections. It’ll shift so hard it’s like you’re rear ended. Other times it’ll stutter and jerk while trying to getnoutnofnthe way. We were lucky another lady with the same issue was at the dealership at the same time. She teamed up with us for something to be done. They’re changing the valve body “hoping” that will fix it.

Even if it’s fixed my wife has completely lost all faith in the vehicle. I’m away for a month at a time and having a reliable car is a big deal. Especially one she looked forward to getting. We’re about $15k upside down so now my life will be miserable too for at least 3 years until we can dump it off on the next poor soul who will probably come here and complain so you can pounce on them too. Get your pointy stick out!

3rd visit to dealership for us. Jerk and stutter in intersections and shift so hard you feel like you were rear ended.

They’ll have it for a week this time hoping that changing the valve body will fix it. The wife has lost all faith in the van and the brand.
