Do you experience the idle speed on >2017 Pacifica to be faster than other vans?

We've had a Chrysler Town Country 2011 uptil now. This fall we got a 2020 Pacifica and my mum who drives it says that it has a very high idle speed compared to the Town Country and every other automatic transmission car she's driven. How do people here experience the idle speed on Pacifica, should it be noticeable higher compared to other vans?

I started suspecting that something is wrong and that it should manifest itself in an unusually high idle rpm. But we've checked the idle rpm and it says 650-700 rpm which should be perfectly normal. We've had a burnt smell and two puffs during driving. I don't know if it's related but obviously the burnt smell has to be checked up.

But if the idle speed is as it should be, can we somehow adjust/lower the idle speed?

No way to adjust it. Most vehicles will high idle on start up to get the catalytic converter "lit off" and working then fall into a lower idle. In the winter it will take a little longer.

Cause it can be scary if you're not used to it. Depends on the driver.
RPMs go much higher when driving, so I don’t get the fear factor here. Just go ahead and put it in drive and you won’t have to watch it idle 🤣

I have changed idle speeds on my racebike, but those computer systems are not nearly as complicated. Not to mention the fact you’d likely void your warranty if you tried to have someone do it.

The burning smell is normal on a new car. It’s a coating on the exhaust system. Will happen the first few times it gets hot, especially if it gets hotter than normal because of aggressive acceleration. Will do it a couple of times, then it’s done.

so are you saying the car has too much idle creep, that it moves too quickly at idle when not applying the brake?
