How do I get map updates for the GPS? My salesperson said they were free. Anyone know the most current version?

There is no update available currently. When one is available it will not be free, so you might want to get that in writing from your dealer.

and here we are, 2016, car manufacture still stuck into that century old mentality ? iphone free map update, tesla free, etc....

They better change their thinking fast or the technology giant will crush them, same happened to Kodak and Nokia

I don't even bother with built in navigation. Waze and google maps on my phone is superior. What they need to focus on is seamless phone integration/hook up.

My sales person told me that as well. He said it a free OTA update. Which I think personally, he did't know what he was talking about.

I also agree that Google maps and Waze is a much better navigation system. So I was a little disappointed to find out Chrysler still had not added Android Auto support to its Uconnect system.

Have him put it in writing. That way when it turns out that he's wrong, you can say that you want the dealership to pay for the map updates.

Went back into dealer, no help, called Uconnect they said only updates every 2 yrs if that. One Menards was 6 months old other just under 2 yrs

By default, the map database is 2014Q4.
To get to the latest map database, one of two things is possible - Complete SW update of the Head Unit will get you the new map database ( possibly 2016Q4 ? ) - this should be free. the timing of the new SW will be known to dealer 2. Nav only dealer update - will get you to the latest map databse - this isn't free.

I've used the following link, and entered VIN# to check for Uconnect update. My Pacifica was built on Oct 16, and the link says my Uconnect is up-to-date. The link that take you to this page says "Sytem and Map updates".
I do NOT know if maps are actually coming along with this.

I agree that Google & Waze offer superior Nav and I find Sirius Travellink retarded in comparison and it's traffic sign just a baby step. I also find the 5 road names below 1000' res frustrating and miss a nice clear offer route display and practical route colors. Still Nav with traffic updates without cell coverage has value to me. My hope is that future software updates will come and our issues will be handled.

Overall I do wish Chrysler not to compete with a Google or Apple. And Chrysler is not alone in this sin of hubris. Google understands almost everything I say so setting Nav is a breeze and I have my phone velcro'd to the dash for just that purpose. Talking to my Pacifica is as frustrating as instructing my dog to bring me a beer. Don't compete where you are over your head.

Worse is charging ~$700 for this not so competitive nav functionality.
Android auto is coming to the Pacifica but it probably won't be until the 2018 models although I just read that Pacificas made in January or later will get start-stop engine shutoff but that's a rumor so who knows.

I'm going to avoid factory nav (haven't bought a Pacifica yet) as I'm not sure that there is any factory nav system out there that is superior to Google Maps.

NOT FREE, even if sales says it is

I also bought a 2017 Pacifica on August 31, 2017. Salesman said it was free. Automatic downloading. A Pseudo sales manager didn't know and spoke with the dealer's computer guru. He said it is downloaded, via the Sirius update. I called HERE the manufacturer of maps for Garmin and others. They say it isn't free. It costs $159 (best price). Our version is V7, which came out in 2014 or early 2015 and they didn't have a V8, but V9 came out in September 2017. So my software is over 2 years old when I bought the car. Chrysler NEEDS to train Sales staff better. They either lie or do NOT know what they sell. I have not been able to get a call back from service in 2 days.
