When I stop the car at a stop or red-light or whatever reasons, the engine goes into idle but the revs are not smooth. It sounds as if the car will stall and then rev up abruptly. he dealer says it is normal as the engine is trying to compensate for power hungry AC or other equipment. That may be but it makes the car almost uncomfortable and all passengers notice and ask me if the car is OK. Anyone ?

Hi, brand new member/owner as of yesterday. I noticed this as well, it sure is rough at idle when sitting at a light for instance, borderline like it's missing. Only 100 miles on it or so. Used to get this with older cars but past couple cars I have owned the tach never varies at idle, this one you can see the tach flutter.

I'm thinking it's a software issue that can be fixed in the future with a reflash of the engine control module/computer.

Mine also has a bit of rough idle, very noticeable when I turn off ESS. Sophisticated electronic ignition engines shouldn't exhibit this.

I have the same problem. It is cool that the car shuts off to save gas, however it does make everyone in the car nervous when it kicks back on for no reason. Almost like it shouldn't have "stalled" in the first place.

Ok i am new to here but not to chrysler/ jeep cars :) we got our pacifica twp weeks ago and on our way from dealer to home which is an hour drive started to do this. Everytime we stopped at a stop light, the car was acting like a car from 1950's era. So what i did was bought two bottles of chevron techron from amazon and added to the gas in the tank. And after driving maybe another 100 miles or so the car is smooth as a new car now. No more erratic idle. I always use techron every 5000 miles on my cars amd it worked beautifully again. Hope this helps. I added not one but full two bottles amd drive the car for like 100 miles to fix the issue.

Hmmmm, I guess I'll try that. We did use questionable gas stations on our road trip. At home, we use exclusively costco gas, which is advertised to have extra cleaners.

I have noticed the same erratic idle at times. It feels like the motor is misfiring, and the idle is too low, thus feeling
slight vibration in the steering wheel and seat.

Exactly!
It is very frustrating for me especially for brand new (less than 1000 miles) almost $40K car.

Hey, Chrysler, what's up with that?!

Please, don't allow to ruin the image and our experience of this fine otherwise vehicle....

Hi byab,

If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

Mine had it but lately, its been pretty smooth. I did use some fuel injector cleaners and have filled up with nothing but Costco gas since our road trip. Or maybe it just takes mileage for it to break in? We are at 5000 miles.

Just test drove one in Ontario Canada. The hybrid did see the gas engine kick in while stationary at a light. There was still plenty of charge left in the battery but it was a noisy "fan running" like sounds with a chugging idle in the background of the gas engine.

The performance of the car was fine but this was a little concerning. I wonder if this is the reason for the vehicles being held at the dealerships and not "delivered" to the buyers. They are waiting on a "flash" update for the vehicle as i was informed but the issues was not know by this particular dealership.

Is anyone still having the rough idle problem?
I went to dealer to check the idle, of course they did not feel anything and there were no codes.
They told me if I want, to leave my van for a day or two for further investigation and maybe mechanic would be able to duplicate the issue.

The shivering when idle is still there, I don't know why the service guy "could not feel it", I don't have a lot of good experience with service departments, so I am not eager to leave my brand new minivan to be a guinea pig for someone.
I guess I will have to get use to it and hope over the time someone will post the solution or maybe it will go away like Norbert's.

The car defiantly has a erratic rough idle. At certain times you can feel it so much, and it vibrates the steering wheel and seat. It feels like the idle revs are too low, hence the cause of the vibration.
