Hi All

Was reviewing my Auto Insurance policy renewal paperwork and noticed that my Pacifica (Touring L Plus) apparently does not have a VICC Approved Immobilizer (and therefore not eligible for the discount).

Ironically, my 2008 Chevy Uplander, with a chip in the key, apparently DOES qualify.

Anyone have any insight or similar experience?

FYI, I'm in Ontario, and VICC refers to the Vehicle Information Centre Canada. Google has almost nothing on them.

Thanks in Advance
Kyle

Pac's don't need an immobilizer as it doesn't use a physical key to start the car.

I'm in the U.S. (SE Michigan) The "Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System" (standard on my Pacifica) is an immobilizer. When I received my updated insurance policy last week, the "anti-theft" discount had been dropped. Contacted my agent, verified I had the "Sentry...." system and they put the discount back on. The agent made a reference along the lines that the anti-theft system was part of the VIN code - no idea if the code changed, somebody fat fingered part of the VIN, name change in the system, who knows - they gave me the discount.

If a description, code, etc. changed, that may explain why it's not showing up in the VICC system; a paperwork snafu or bureaucracy could also play a part. Long way around to say if you've got the "Sentry Key....." you have an immobilizer and good luck with your insurance company. That system is common across Chrysler, Jeep, etc product lines
