I have 2017 Limited and for the past few weeks I noticed if sitting in traffic and then increase to speed to around 15mph mark van does a quick jolt/ jerk. It seems van is having trouble auto shifting. Took it in for EGR recall and Ron at service desk said it should fix the jolting issue. Get the van back and on the way home it happens again. I make an appointment to take van back to dealership and on the way to dealership the check engine light comes on and immediately after that my van's RPM is between 5.5-6 going 50mph with a very loud noise as if I have my pedal at full throttle.

Now the van is back at dealership. Service desk assistant manager says he has had zero complaints of this and this is his first case. I showed him the video I took while engine light was on with he increasing RPM.

Anyone else with either of these issues.

Thanks!

A transmission TSB was done (when I had the EGR recall done) that seemed to really help, but I recently noticed a problem at 15 mph (just the jolt, no service engine light) but it only happened once a day and not consistently. I'd been trying to figure it out, but after I got different gas, it hasn't happened yet. I thought I'd see if there was a certain number of miles between jolts, so I'm curious to see if the previous gas could have been part of the issue. Someone mentioned that summer blends and winter blends of gas are different. The gas used previously was advertised as more oxygenated I think, so it is still a mystery.

i had picked up van yesterday after dealership did a transmission software update and it seemed to have fixed the RPM and check engine light issue. On the way to work this AM, van did the quick jolt/ jerk at 15mph twice. I went back to dealership and the transmission guy got in van with me and before we even made it out of parking lot boom it happened twice. Hopefully they will figure it out. He agrees he thinks it has something do with the gears shifting no properly.

Thanks for keeping us posted. I had hoped the different gasoline solved the problem, but my van still has a jolt/jerk at 15 mph occasionally. The problem isn't predictable enough to schedule an appointment yet. I have 13,500 miles on a Sept 2016 build that I've had for a year.

Yes, I have the same issue. It was taken in 3 times to no avail. The dealership knows what its doing, but doesn't know how to fix it. Today, it finally quit on the interstate and I limped home. Waiting on the wrecker to pick it up as we speak. Hope they can find what it is or I will have to speak with someone with more authority. In 40 years of driving I've never had to have a car towed. With 11k miles, I expect better. I'm glad I leased it and can walk away when time is up. Will not buy another Chrysler!! I'M DONE!!!

On Nov. 28 the mechanic "cleared transmission adaptations" which appears to have solved the 15 mph jolt/jerk problem my van was having. It has been several days now without the problem so I am hopeful that it is fixed.

I am including more information from the service paper in case it will help others.
"Cause: F
S100 Software Update 1939 WD
Software is up to date, recommend clear trans adaptations and let trans relearn to customers driving habits. Reset trans adaptations, Customer advised trans may shift different until trans learns."

The mechanic recommended this solution because he had worked on other 9 speed transmissions and that sometimes when there were software updates, the adaptions aren't cleared and that can cause problems. I really don't understand all of what he told me, but I am posting this in case it will help others. I don't think any error codes showed up; the mechanic suggested the recommended solution based on experience.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. I do wonder, however, how the transmission responds in a case where two or more people share a car, each having different driving habits.

I think resetting the adaptations has more to do with clearing possible conflicting codes bogging down the system than really having it conform to my driving habits. I personally think that if the transmission is learning something, it is learning to interact with a human. I doubt if it would make a difference who drives the van.

For those of you who understand transmissions, the mechanic tried to explain that the adaptations/memory? had something to do with how the clutch pack fills up with transmission fluid or something like that.

Again, I really don't understand the fix, but I am just really happy that it worked.

I have taken my vechice to service twice. I have explained the issue and nothing the issue is ongoing. the vehicle Jolts at 15-20 mph as if someone rear ended us. So today I decided to contact Chrysler 1800-521-9922. I was on the phone with Shaniqua for 58 minutes. nobody is aware of this issue, 2083 posts @ChryslerCares and nobody knows the issue. After contacting 2 dealerships appointments being 2 weeks in. This vehicle is not safe to drive and yet no one can help us. @ChryslerCares I hope that there is some courtesy and somebody gets back to me.

My 2017 does this jerking thing you describe as well. Exactly the same and essentially going from 1 to 2nd gear automatically...So scary and yes, as if someone has hit you from behind. I just dropped mine off to the dealer to get all the recalls fixed and told them about it but of course the technician acts as if this is new. Bologna. We shall see what the results are today. I may just trade mine in if they don't take care of it the way they should.

Its insane how a whole company @ChryslerCares does not recognize this problem. So unfortunate I have called the 800 number, serviced twice, and yet nothing. I might do the same just give it back straight up. my next step is to contact the Better Business bureau, or maybe somehow search to see is there is a class action lawsuit against this.

My 2017 does the same, but after the weird failure issues I've been having (now determined to be ESS battery-related--waiting until JANUARY for backordered batt...) and an update performed by the dealership, it actually hasn't happened again. Maybe the update they did is the same update that "clears transmission adaptations" as mentioned above.
