Purchased a 2017 pacifica 2 days ago with 20 miles on it and went out to get in the van this morning and key wouldn't unlock or open doors... so I tried to use the other key and nothing... so I took the emergency key out and opened door and alarm went off ... sat in it and on dash it says push brake + start .... but nothing happens ... get pissed off call dealer and get the run around ... so I go up there and raise **** and they just say it needs tp be towed and needs a software update... (which sounds like total bull **** to me )... so now I have a van that's seeing the tow truck after 2 days ... lucky it happened at home and not while I was out at the store or something... but now I have a bad taste in my mouth about this vehicle because I am. Chevy Guy and never had any problems

Do you still have the van or has it already been towed? Try pressing the start button with the end of the key fob. Does that have any effect?

I tried that and also putting key by the little slots under the button .. even tried removing the button as the manual says and not even a ket nsert there ... and won't be towed until tomorrow
The button does not remove, do not try that. All you can try is pressing the narrower end of the fob into the button. If that does not work then yeah it's not going anywhere.

Just for fun.... did you try disconnecting the battery?

-FV
I'm pretty sure it won't start with the battery disconnected :wink2::wink2:

But seriously it might work. Leave it disconnected for a few minutes. It might reset the rf hub.

But then again if you want the dealer to be able to reproduce the issue, don't go this route.

I didnt do anything ... but came home from store in my truck and decided to just try the key and see what happens and boom it was working again ... so if it is still working tomorrow, I will just drive up there and see what they can do to not let this happen again ... just seems like a strange feature to not have any manual way of starting it up...

Pushing the button with the fob is the manual way of starting it, or at least as manual as it gets. It uses RFID when you do that, so it doesn't require the fob to have any power. But if there's a problem in the starting system in the van as apposed to the RF receiver, I can see how it still wouldn't start. I'd definitely still have the dealer check it out.

Woke up this morning and the van won't work ... this is crazyness .... now I won't hold my breath in the dealership calling me this morning like they promised....
There is a good chance that by the time it's towed to he dealer, it will be working just fine.

I hope it can be fixed for you.

How would you be able to assist?
Depending on what exactly is going on, we can offer corporate resources to the dealership during the diagnostic/repair process, and open a case to document everything so it is on file with your vehicle.

This video should help the dealer diagnose the problem. One thing I did read was that when starting the vehicle using the backup method (pressing brake and then pressing nose of fob to start/stop button) you need to hold it in for 2 seconds. Something to try if you need to but this needs to go back to the dealer.
