What is going on with my 2022 van?
When I’m parked and just sitting with the engine running, there will be normal humming for 5-10 mins, then it goes in this LOUD rattle for about 3 minutes, then some kind of click/ switch and the rattle turns off, and it runs smoothly with the normal low hum, and then repeat. Turning off the A/C doesn’t do anything. I know about the loud cooling fan (which is another absolutely ridiculous problem). That’s a separate issue.

You can hear the rattle in this video, then you hear some kind of clicking. You almost think that the car turned off. But no, that’s just the rattling stopped. Is this normal?

My car sounds like an old clunker tractor most of the time. In the hot summer the AC cooling fan is ridiculous. Now this rattling noise. I'm not joking, when it comes on (when I'm sitting in car line or waiting for my kids anywhere), people turn around looking at what's wrong with my car.

Does everyone have the same noise? Is this normal?

Nope, that’s not my experience.

Definitely not my experience on the ICE version.

Is it possible something is down by the radiator cooling fan? When that kicks on, its rattling a piece of plastic or something? I unfortunately don't have a PACHY to know if there is an additional sort of cooling fan or clutch that would cause this as it could relate to the battery coolant system.

I do know one thing, that would drive me crazy also! Hope you can get it figured out.

What is the battery level when this happens? Is it cold outside?

I've had that sound on my 2018, in particular when the battery is full by the ICE needs to run for whatever reason (mostly because it's cold). If you look at the power screen you will notice the battery charging when the noise happens, then the charging stops cause the battery is mostly full, the ICE may continue to run.

That said, if this is constant and really loud, I would get it checked by the dealer. The noises are coming from the transaxle, this is where the electric motors are.

I'm with BCBM. Something is loose (bracket, wiring harness, ?) on or near the radiator and manifests itself when the electric fan behind the radiator turns on.

Try it again with the hood open and you standing to one side of the engine (not in front of it) to get a better visual and auditory experience. Might result in a "Ah ha!" moment.

Edit: Oh my, I missed that the OP has a Hybrid. That changes everything, so I'm declaring "Never mind" on my post!

Our 2020 hybrid has the same rattling sound when it runs on ICE. Our trips are short and we run virtually entirely in EV mode but when it goes into FORM there is the rattling. To me the noise sounds like a bad bearing. It is loud at first and isn't so noticeable after driving a while. Since the ICE doesn't run much it hasn't been annoying enough to take to the dealer.

My car runs great and mostly the electric to hybrid transition is good but sometimes when the engine starts it sounds like someone threw a box of tools down the stairs.
Anyway I'm a new purchaser of a mopar warranty. Went 7 years unlimited. To me it's worth the peace of mind.

To the OP: did you ever have any success getting this diagnosed?

I have a sound in the same area that I suspect might lead to as obvious a sound as what you recorded.

I’m having the exact same issue with my 2020 PacHy! I took it to the dealership and they have no idea what is causing the noise and can’t get my vehicle in for full diagnostics until 2/23. What did you end up finding out about what was causing the noise in yours? Any help or insight you can provide would be much appreciated!!

They just ordered a new strut for my 18. I have another thread going on it (search "Help Diagnosing Engine Rattle) but ai will also post here if it's the solution.
