Every time I turn off the ignition I see an ad on the UConnect screen. I don't remember agreeing to be subjected to advertisements when I purchased the van. This is unacceptable behavior by FCA. Anyone else seeing the ads?

There should an after-the-fact opt out somewhere...
But it will reset at every update.

Well, it is clear to see what the recent Uconnect Telematics Box Module update was really about. This is complete BS to be pushing money-generating ads on privately owned products! While downloaded phone apps do this, Apple and Android core OS DO NOT push ads on the hardware devices we outright own. Rather cheap for them to want to access your personal phone to make money rather than using the Uconnect services phone built. Calling that number royal screws you. They charge full dealer retail price with no discounts when bought directly through Mopar. When I was shopping for mine before discovering Hayes Jeep, I called that number and they wanted 4,280.00 for the same 8/125,000 I got from Hayes for 2,225.00.

Hopefully, they don't start charging us to use our heated steering wheel, seats, and ventilated seats like other brands do. Or our key fobs like Toyota charges 8 dollars a month to use the key fob remote features.

I can see the ads now on the Uconnect screen, "Brrr it's cold outside! Purchase the use of heated seats and steering wheel for a one-time payment of 480.00 or rent for 29.99 a month until canceled." "It's getting hotter! Bet you would love to use the ventilated seats, YEAH I BET YOU WOULD! Purchase now and include the heated seats and steering wheel option for a one-time payment of 599.99 or rent monthly ventilated seats only for 19.99 until canceled."

This ad is a stupid bonehead move on Stellanti's part. Is this saying something they know about build quality and then saying we told you so when problems happen outside of factory warranty?

I'm not sure it applies to me as I don't subscribe to any services through Uconnect. Anyway, this is the opt-out link
You'll need your VIN for the form.

Hmm… does that mean you all get the remote access package or something like that? If not I don’t think the car is wirelessly connected to anyone

The vehicle is wirelessly connected 24/7 whether you subscribe or not.

I understand that - there is a cost for that, AT&T won’t give free data someone got to pick up the tab…

The in-vehicle AT&T WiFi hotspot has nothing to do with the car being connected to data. That is a shared connection with a paywall.

Whether you pay for AT&T WiFi or Sirius Guardian Services or don't, the vehicle is always connected to 4G data 24/7. The paywalls granting end-user licensing dictate if you can use the connections for personal use.

Who paid for the 24/7 data without paying for the subscriptions? The original vehicle owner. Whatever the contract FCA pulled with AT&T 5,10,15,35 a month or a one-time fee to keep the data link was wrapped up in the MSRP. Nothing is free. If something claims to be free, you are the product being sold.

If 15 a month 10 years would be 1,800 in the MSRP. The deal pulled was most likely a one-time fee as both FCA and AT&T factor in for disabled/totaled vehicles taken out of service each year.

I'm happy to report that I haven't seen the ad since I unsubscribed.
I don't remember, will the emergency call work without the subscription? If not, it would be better to disconnect the cell antenna, all it does is violating privacy without any benefit to the owners.

The emergency call needs active Satellite to work for sure although if you have a cell phone with active cell service you'd have access to emergency services anyway. Although it may require manual dialing instead of automatically calling unless the smartphone has newest auto dialing crash features without needing the vans satellite. The other things I'd worry about by disconnecting the cell antenna with the newer uConnect 5 NAV Pacificas would be disabling entire uConnect 5 Navigation system and available SiriusXM Guardian features if subscribed. Of course not everyone cares about those aforementioned features requiring active satellite service & in that case by all means disconnect cell antenna just remember if you always carry a cell phone your privacy is moot point anyhow, lol.:)
I don't have the schematics handy, but GPS and SiriusXM should be served by different antennas.
