So I was in my car new Pac hybrid (which I love) this evening listening to the speakers (I think the driver and passenger speakers on the door are not working, almost no sound, see my other post ). I noticed the check engine light was on so I moved if to D and the car moved backwards.
I parked got out and looked and it was almost touching the garage door (it was only 6 inches from the door to start). I decided I would open the door to play it safe but could not as the lip on the bottom would now hit the bumper when opened or the door would hit the bumper.
I got back in the car shifted it to D and it seemed to roll backwards more.
Moved it back to park moved it to L and it now it actually hits the door (yes my new car now has a crease on the bumper.
At this point I am thinking what in the world.
I move it to N to see if I can push it forward and can maybe move it forward a cm if at all
Finally I get back in think this is crazy put it back in D moves forward no problem.
So I don't know if this is an issue with the auto parking brake, if I was frustrated by the speakers and not thinking straight or if it was truely an issue which the car went the wrong way.
My first thought was not to post this as I love the car and like to believe I did something wrong but at the same time felt I should post on case someone else relates and it is truely an issue.

Sometimes this is referred to in medical circles as having a stroke. ;)
Your shift issue hasn't happened to me, but doesn't mean it didn't actually happen to you, especially considering how the shifter is electronic.
Had a weird situation yesterday where I could not change the volume on the radio. It displayed different volume levels from 2 to 24, but the actual volume did not change at all. ...and no, I was not adjusting the drive shift knob! :p Shut down, restarted and it was fine after that. Needed a reboot I guess.

Just to play it safe I am bringing the car in today. Chrysler cares said they would create a case number and the dealer Calais they may be able to get a code since the check engin light went on even just briefly.

My 8.4 screen read "camera not available" and it was black. Re start (reboot) and it's been fine ever since.

If brought the car in.
They could not recreate it (going backwards when in drive)
Picked it up today but got a call this afternoon from Chrysler cares.
They would like me to bring it back as they want to send an engineer from corporate to look at it. They will provide a loaner.
Also they said whatever is good for me, did not express an urgency.
Either they know something or perhaps given the situation want someone else to look at it

Issue recreated, when I turned the car on it looked on as it was in run on the button and moved to drive. What I learned is it was not really on as it had no power steering and my garage cas a small slope so the car rolled. Also noticed while the car was in fact in Drive the d was flashing.

I've experienced the same issue in my Ford Focus Electric. It thought it was ready to go, but was really in Accessory mode, then started rolling down my sloped driveway. You usually don't notice until you go to brake and there is no assist. Sorry to hear about the bumper.

Through the Uconnect screen setting dialog you can turn the hill assist function on or off. It is supposed to hold the brakes for 2 seconds when you move your foot off the brake to allow you time to move the vehicle with the accelerator. It does not act when the gradient you are on is less than +/- 5%. If you are on a slight grade, maybe that explains why it wants to roll. The flashing D is a mystery. Service info says under some error conditions which set codes (such as lost communication with other modules) all lights will illuminate steadily or all will blink.

I've noticed with mine when I try to start it without pressing the brake, I can get the start button to show run but it does nothing except flash the MIL light when I try and shift to either R or D and accelerate. It's trained me to press the brake, push run, buckle seat belt (gives vehicle time to indicate it is ready to drive) and then select R or D.
