Hello...
I used to have a Town and Country from 2012, and I always rented CD's from the library and I could save it in my van's hard drive memory without any problem.
I used to go to media, then music, then save it...and that was it.
I wonder if anybody here knows if is anyway to do it in the new Limited Pacifica. Mine comes full equipment. I've been trying but can't find the way :(
Thank you!

The Pacifica does not have an internal hard drive, so that is not possible. The closest thing would be to use a computer to save it to a USB flash drive to play in the Pacifica later.

You're welcome, even though I'm sure it's not the answer you were hoping for. By the way, welcome to the forum!

wow, it really sucks! My old van was so easy to use and I could save a lot of music and even pictures!
Thank you for your response though :)
I know how you feel! I had a 2011, 2012 and 2014 Town and Country Limited with the same 430N radio and I had about 24 gig of music on each one, it took me a very long time to download all that music from my collection of 86 GIG of music. I was so "PISSED" to find out that I paid as much as I did for my loaded every option Pacifica Limited to find out the radio has no internal memory for my music. I understand using a thumbdrive, but you can't sort etc. REALLY SUCKS!!!!

Flash drive issues with 2017 Pacifica Limited

Like some of the others here we miss the internal hard drive we had on our Town and Country. I bought a Lexar Flash drive and installed some music and it plays well on our 2017 Pacifica Limited. I decided I wanted to add some more songs to the drive and remove others so using my computer I deleted all songs and then copied a whole new set onto the Flash drive. When I plugged the drive into my Pacifica Limited port it now shows I have 1675 items but on the computer it only shows 838 items (songs). I put the Flash drive back into the computer and deleted all songs and went back to the car. It is still registering all the music (1675 songs). What is going on - is there some internal drive that I am not aware of? I have tried to copy the Lexar info here but can't seem to get it to copy. When I have the flash drive inserted in my MAC I click on "Get Info" and it states that the format is MS-DOS (FAT32), Capacity: 64GB, Available: 58.2GB - Used 5,802,885,120 bytes (5.8 GB on disk). I don't understand this so not sure if I have a problem with the Flash drive rather than the car. Can anyone set me straight.

It's likely because Macs create a hidden file for each real file. So your Mac is only showing you the songs, but Uconnect is seeing the songs and the hidden files. The easiest way to get rid of the hidden files is to plug the flash drive into a Windows machine and delete them. There are ways to do it from the Mac as well, which you can Google, but it's a little less straightforward.

Thanks. I don't currently have access to a Windows computer but will track one down and give it a try.
In the meantime, those files shouldn't cause any issues with Uconnect other than reporting more files than you have songs. Also, make sure you don't have more than 255 songs in a folder and not more than 1400 songs total on the flash drive. That's the upper limit of what Uconnect can index. Things get wonky if you go over that.

One more thing. After you delete songs from the flash drive, make sure you empty the trash before you eject it. If you don't, the songs will just get moved to the trash folder on the flash drive.

now that is probably why the Pacifica still reads the songs to be on the drive, they might be in the trash section and the Pacifica reads all that is on the flash drive?

Yep. Uconnect will scan the entire drive and index its contents, even if songs are in the .Trashes folder. That's why when you're using a Mac, it's important to empty the trash after deleting things and BEFORE ejecting the flash drive.

Can someone tell me what file type works? I plugged in a USB stick that has one album on it (because I had just bought it from BandCamp) so it shouldn't be overwhelmed by too many songs, but it said, "Filetype not recognized." I'm pretty sure they are in mp3 format.

The process that was described of taking the CD in your PC and copy it to an USB stick is not hard at all. Take an USB stick, create a folder called Music and copy all your mp3 files there.

Put it in this way, the next time you switch a car, to take your music with you will be as easy to unplug your USB stick. ;)

Hi Maggie, it took me a while to figure how I could see my more than 4000 songs. First of all, the Lexar card is not that good. Buy this one that is proven to work.

You can format it as NTFS but FAT32 will work.

Create a folder called Music and copy to this folder all your mp3s. Forget about any folder structure you may have like Artist-Album-Song. Copy all your files in that Music folder. You will end with your 1675 files in that folder. I asure you that this method will work.

The problem is that it seems that UCONNECT has limitations on time to read the files from each folders and probably also limitations in the amount of folders that it can read. By having everything in one folder you go around these limitations.

Probably you are dealing with an Apple encrypted file m4p. Those files needs to be converted to mp3 or m4c.
