I notice that the dimming of the dash lights for night driving dims the nav map almost black. When I rotate the dimmer control switch towards bright it momentarily goes through a screen that is about half way, about perfect but then clicks to bright. Can this half dark screen be maintained? I see the switch to shut off completely, but would like to be able to get the momentary level I see when transitions.
Anyone else see this as an issue?

Hi Mike. When the dimming switch is not locked in the bright position the map goes to a night mode at night. You'll notice the map background goes to a black. If you lock it in bright mode then the background will go to the day background color. The brightness adjustment wheel does change the brightness but it's limited to how much you can brighten a black background.

minor flaw on a good car

Hopefully Chrysler will be able to put a software fix in for this flaw. The range of lighting sorely is lacking, a better option would be to get rid of the lock points and just have a range from full bright to full off.

are you saying that when the dimmer switch is not locked into bright mode then the screen will go black at night but bright during the day. My car does not seem to function like you are describing so just curious on how to adjust brightness so that I don't have to play with the dimmer switch each time I take the car for a day drive or a night drive.

I'll try to take some pics and get back to you this weekend.

I find myself adjusting the dimmer switch each time a drive at night so the nav radio screen isn't blinding. However that dim position is too dark for daytime use. No happy medium.

I've attached two pics. The brighter one is day background(lights off) and the dark one is night background(lights on). The switch is not locked into bright mode.

Well in the end I opted for a manual setting in uconnect with both boxes checked to 10. The dimmer knob is set up to all the way up to first intend but without going to full brightness. This seems to provide a quality light for both day and night settings.

I didn't know there were settings for this.
Thanks!

I can't seem to find this anywhere in the 5th revision of the manual. Can you explain where in the menu system you went to and what exactly you clicked to get the desired results? Or some pics would be great.

Thanks

It is under SETTINGS/DISPLAY. Here is a page from the manual:

But how do you change the settings for with the lights on, that's what I need to change and it's grayed out even though it's there.

It sucks because if I have the headlights set to auto and we go through a deep shade, the headlights come on and all the screens in the car dim - even the video screens the kids are watching. It's way too dark to see the screens well in the daytime.

It is likely grayed out on the Uconnect screen because your rightmost knob on the dash by the headlight switch is currently rolled all the way up into one of its two detent positions. I owned my Pacifica for a full year before figuring this out. Roll it down slightly and UConnect will let you change the grayed out setting (I have both of mine now set at 10,10,manual). Hopefully, between the dash knob and the UConnect screen settings for headlights on and headlights off you will find settings you can live with.

It will be grayed out if your headlights aren't on. Turn your headlights on and that setting will become changeable.
