Yes, that's the way it works with Chrysler. But some dealers give out their own version of this information. I'm guessing they just don't know and don't care enough to get clarification from Chrysler.I was told by the dealer that if I order then all the incentives going on right now will be honored as part of the agreement when the van arrives. And if the incentives get better then I can have those in lieu of the originals.
Orders have been taking 5-6 weeks lately.
I've never heard of that. The VIN is assigned about 24 hours after the order is placed and that VIN ties directly to the equipment the car is built with. Maybe they can update the VIN database after it's assigned, but I wouldn't count on it.Their belief is that a unit already in process can be upgraded to what I ordered reducing the lead time quite a bit.

We inked a deal early this afternoon and they are placing the order today and discussing the lead time with their Chrysler rep. The sales manager seems to think 5 - 6 weeks is on the long side. Their belief is that a unit already in process can be upgraded to what I ordered reducing the lead time quite a bit. Once they have more information around timing they will let me know.
I think we should start a thread titled"the crazy things we've heard from our dealerships"?I've never heard of that. Which dealer or where are you located?I was told by the dealer that if I order then all the incentives going on right now will be honored as part of the agreement when the van arrives. And if the incentives get better then I can have those in lieu of the originals.
Brookfield Jeep Dodge Chrysler in Benton Harbor, MI. And they intend to honor the current incentives because we have a signed purchase agreement that includes them.Which dealer or where are you located?
Multiple dealers in SoCal told me it was only the ones at delivery and I called the Chrysler incentives support line and heard the same direct from Chrysler. (I have a thread on this.)
Chrysler confirmed just now that my van is built and scheduled to be delivered to the dealer 12/25 - 12/30. So if it actually happens that was about a 4 week duration. I'm glad we did that and got everything we wanted. Not to mention there is an extra $1000 of incentives in Dec over Nov.I got my VON and VIN numbers today. My dealer said they put my van ahead of some others they had on order for their lot and it should be finished in less than 5 weeks. So, for the record today 11/30/16 is day #1. It was pretty easy to get an update using the Chrysler online chat so I'll ping them for updates once in a while and post here.
Thanks for the update. I'll be building one as well... seems like there are no touring L plus (of any color) with tow package, 8 seat AND tire/wheel package within 500 miles from me. The wheels on the Touring L plus belong on a hybrid or lower trim. Heck... I'll even take the Touring L rims if they offered them to me.Got the van on 1/3. So my new build took 34 days.
