Hi everyone,

My wife and I are most likely about to pull the trigger on a new Pacifica Limited but we are having a hard time deciding on a few things.

Is there any benefit to getting the Theater package?
We have a 1 year old that is still sitting in a rear facing car seat. So even if we do get the theater package she would not be able to use it for another year or so. Would it be better to just use a tablet on the seat instead?

On a side note does anyone know what the current ratings on the USB outlets are? 1 Amp, 2.4 Amps?

Limited Vac or Spare?
I have been looking at the threads on here about spare vs vac but I am still torn. I seems like the best option is to keep the vac and just buy the spare separately, keeping it in the stow-n go compartment.

Also it has been a while since a last purchased a new car and I am a bit curious about how people are getting vehicles below invoice? Both dealerships I have gone to don't seem to want to budge from the MSRP - current incentives.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum JayKay!

1-I have the Home Theater option. Disney DVDs sure helped out on long trips when the kids were little but my older kids spend 85%+ of their time on cell phone and tablets. They do like to occasionally display their iPad/iPhone on the Home Theater screens via an HDMI adapter. The Home Theater option also provides you a nice 115 Volt AC outlet in the van.

2- Pacifica manual says USB current rating is a generous 2.5 Amps

3-We have the Vac and I later purchased the spare. The spare lives in my garage except on trips where I'm afraid cell phone or roadside assistance won't be reliable. If you get the VAC option and no spare you still get the MOPAR air compressor with the built-in "fix-a-flat goo canister". The vacuum is a regular vac, not a wet vac.

4-The end of December should be an excellent time to get a good deal on a Pacifica.

Hi everyone
Hi JayKay! Welcome to the forum!

Is there any benefit to getting the Theater package?
This is a matter of personal preference, however, I think it's a great option. I have older kids that are perfectly fine using iPads, but I also have a 2 year old, and being able to control what he's watching from the front seat is a must since he's not old enough to do it himself. I know your 1 year old isn't quite ready to use it yet, but I'd definitely go with Uconnect Theater to future proof as much as possible. It also gives you the added benefit of being able to play DVDs, Blu-rays, and CD, none of which are possible without it.

On a side note does anyone know what the current ratings on the USB outlets are? 1 Amp, 2.4 Amps?
They're 2.5 amp (12.5 watts at 5 volts)

Limited Vac or Spare?
Having a kid, you'll definitely get plenty of use out of the vac. It's only a matter of time before sucking up goldfish is a regular occurrence (if it's not already). And since you can get a spare tire kit for $300 and store it in the Stow-N-Go well, you can get the best of both worlds.

Also it has been a while since a last purchased a new car and I am a bit curious about how people are gets vehicles below invoice? Both dealerships I have gone to don't seem to want to budge from the MSRP - current incentives.
I think the most important thing when negotiating with dealers is to know what you're talking about. Don't ask them for their best price. Instead, tell them that you're willing to pay invoice minus half the holdback (not including incentives). Just using that terminology is probably enough for them to realize that you know what you're talking about. If they say they can't do it, just tell them that you know of plenty of other dealers that will, so have a nice day. It's quite likely that they won't let you leave.

Another question, does this usually work if you have to order the vehicle? I also get the friends and family discount.

Absolutely! Just negotiate the price before you place the order, and know exactly which incentives you qualify for beforehand. Not sure how the friends and family discount works.

For example my price without incentives would be $44,994 (FFP) when normal MSRP is $47,480.

Since I have never worked with the holdback price before I want to make sure I don't sound like I have no idea what I am doing if I am already getting a good price.

With the incentives from November + Tax + title... The out the door price was $46,370.

From reading other threads that price sounds a little high to me.

Hmm. I've never dealt with Friends and Family Pricing, so I don't really know how it works. But since it's listed as a special price for the vehicle instead of a discount, I'm not sure if it really gets you much. The FFP price is only $379 below invoice, and chances are you'd be able to negotiate a better deal than that without the FFP anyway. If the dealer will handle FFP as a $2500 discount instead of a special price, you should be able to negotiate a price first and then apply the FFP discount, but I don't know if they'll do it that way.

I also seem to remember reading something on this forum about giving up any future rights to sue if you take Employee Pricing. Not sure if the same would apply to FFP. Hopefully, somebody with more FFP experience will chime in.

FFP & supplier prefered pricing are 1% below dealer invoice which the dealer must disclose when you present your discount control number. I was ordering a Pacifica & got $1500 in incentives on top of FFP. This was back in August. I thought that was a fair price and didn't haggle further but you could try for some of the dealer holdback if you want.

I have not personally checked. But, from what I understand Costco's Auto Buying program and others like it (AAA, etc.) usually get you $500 under invoice before incentives.
Plus the dealer is paying Costco or whomever for the sales lead. Based on one source it's close to $300 per lead that leads to a sale. So theoretically, I'd think you could do $800 under invoice.

I am new to the forums as well. First day in fact. I bought our Van on Saturday. My wife's Christmas Present. We bought the theater package with it. We had a 900 mile ride home from where we bought it and when we got home, our 14 year old said that it seemed to be a very quick trip home. I love it. Glad to have it.

That's awesome...proof the theater package is worth the price paid. The only negative is our daughter never naps during car rides anymore. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There's some good stuff and some good people on here.

Well we did it. Just pulled the trigger on a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Limited.

- Brilliant Black exterior
- Black/Deep Mocha interior
- Advanced Safety
- Theater Package
- KeySense

After rebates and discounts, I think we got a pretty good price.

Is there anything I should look out for when I go pick it up?

Hello everyone! I just found this forum today. I purchased my new Pacific Touring L on 10/27. It was my first vehicle that I ever bought!! I love my new car and as of yet haven't had any real issues. Although I really wish I could've got the Plus!!! Maybe next time.

Congratulations. Great choice for your first purchase! I hate the car buying process but am happy with the Christmas gift I bought myself :)
