Hello Everybody,

I'm a newbie to this forum. Just bought a Pacifica Touring -L in Black. I'm hoping to learn and contribute through this forum.

Seems like there is a fair amount of discussion about the transmission in these vehicles. I noticed that there is no way to tell what gear the transmission is using. I read on the forum that is true. How disappointing. I had driven a 2016 Chrysler 200 with the 9speed with no paddle shifters and you were able to see what gear it was using.

Reading more through the forums it seems like some people say the transmission never uses 9th gear and some say that it does. Is there any reason behind that? Does it need the latest software update in order to be able to use 9th gear? How do you tell what transmission software version the car has?

Thanks,
Ed

Hi Ed, welcome to the forum! My Cherokee has the same transmission and I can confirm that it never sees 9th gear. I really don't know if the Pacifica does or not since there's not an easy way to display what gear it's in.
