i agree. A warning chime outside the vehicle should be given. And please no horn. A seperate low volume audible chime. And maybe a double or triple light flash. I don't need or want a 75-100 decibel horn blast when I lock the car.

Car don't give any warning if you lock the car from remote with doors open.
Happened to me couple of times.
2015 Town & Country Limited does this also. make sure your doors are closed.:frown2:

Bumping up this older thread. I just noticed this and my old Odyssey even had this feature. Could be a software update?

Also, I wish they had a "lockdown" feature where everything is closed up, windows, sunroof with just a few clicks. Some have the roll down window features but I want to secure it and be able to know that it's all closed up properly vs having to check as I have left the sunroof tilt open a few times.

My '13 Odyssey didn't give any indication of an open door when trying to lock it with the remote either. It just simply wouldn't lock. The wife likes to press the lock button twice to hear the horn confirmation that it's locked in case she misses the lights flashing.

Yes that's what I meant, at least with the Odyssey, if you didn't hear the lock horn or lights, something was up and I would check.

I'd like for it not to beep if you lock the car and the door is open, then beep (as it usually does when locked) when that door is closed. It's a very common occurrence for us to lock the car and everyone is standing there waiting for one of my kids to bookmark their book, put on shoes, etc. and emerge from the open sliding door.

The no warning that something is ajar/not fully closed/wide open is so disappointing in a vehicle for this day and age. I would think this would be a software update to tie in with the arming of the alarm system etc to not beep or beep 4 times or something letting you know something isn’t right and the car is not secure.

Wife noticed this issue. Not happy about it. I guess there is nothing that can be done

Some of these requests include adding more than a dozen sensors with the harnesses wired back to the front. 70 meters of new wires. When a single sensor breaks and returns a fault code as door open, while it is truly closed, will it allow you to shift out of park? These would have to be -perfect performance- but would be pretty sweet have. I guess I'm a pessimist.

My issue. Clearance. Some doozy speed bump around here. More like the engineer, and the construction company deciding what is needed, what is easy, and what is going to happen was decided the day they put down the pavement. I have to approach at a angle. Straight on equals LOUD NOISE!

I think existing switches could be used to solve many or most of these. It would require more work by the processor, to sample those switch positions and then act on the appropriate decision tree. Loading the processor up with too much work could certainly have negative consequences.

Dreaming of a World Without Beeps

It's funny we could be so diametrically passionate about beeps. I absolutely loath beeping honking alerts and am positively thrilled that the Pacifica doesn't warn me that a door is open.

I often want to lock the door, stow the key fob in my pocket, then lift the grocery bag or whatever out of the car, and kick-close the door. In fact, now I don't even have to stow the fob, since I can just push the lock button on the door. The last thing I need or want is the nanny car haranguing me (and everyone else within a 3-block radius) about the fact that the door was open when I locked it. I have no fear of locking my keys in the car, especially now that I never even have to take the fob out of my pocket, and could unlock it with my cell phone if I did. And, I'm completely at ease with the minimal risk that I might leave a door open one day.

In my opinion, the world has enough beeps as it is. I think from here on out we should have to remove a beep every time we add a new one.
