Have a quick question. The limited I had my eye on just sold :(
Now the dealership says they won't honor the same price for an order from factory. Any insight on this. I'm guessing the dealers would rather push off their inventory vs give a deal on a custom build. Is this true?

It all depends. I'd see if you can find one at a competing dealer or if a competing dealer would order one for that price.

Either way, use that as leverage at your original dealer. Tell them that you are ready to order and a distant dealer will honor the price, ask if they will match.

Sounds like a dealer who doesn't want to sell.

When you buy from the dealer lot or order the dealer gets a hold back which depending on the car can be 8- 10%.
When you transfer a car the original dealer gets the hold back.

Could be a price increase on a new compared to what is on the lot.
My ordered Limited msrp was 50,560.00 and the holdback was 1470.00. Which the dealer let me take off and all incentives including the 1000.00 from Sam's

Ran into similar issue when I picked up mine. Dealer had one on lot with a big discount but not the color I wanted. They would not honor the same discount to order same options. So I bought the one on the lot. Can live with an alternate color to save few thousand dollars.

From my research and experience, if you wait long enough you will find one you want for quite a bit cheaper at the dealership than by ordering it. I waited for my Limited with everything that I wanted (which I purchased yesterday) instead of ordering it. It had an MSRP of $50,305 and I got it for $43,647 after dealer discounts, $500 from Chrysler, and $1000 from Sam's Club. Of course, I still had to pay title, tax, and registration. In a 500 mile radius search I had not seen anything that aggressively priced in over a month of looking.

If you a Sam's Club member, log into your account and go to their Auto Buying Program. Search on Chrysler Pacifica, you will get a pop-up for the $1,000 incentive offer. Click on Print Offer Form and you're good to go. You can also have the offer texted to your cell phone.

You can also try to search on Edmunds.com. In searching around, I was offered a $1,000 incentive on the Pacifica. I was not able to combine the Edmunds offer with the Sam's one, so this would be an option for someone who's not a Sam's member. Note on the Edmunds offer: I, along with others that have have posted, did not get the offer while searching on the Pacifica. I was searching on Kia Sedona when I received my offer, so search on different vechicles.

I found out about it about 2 months ago and have been trying to spread the word, I have a Sam's club membership, so I just went to the auto buying section and filled out the info and printed off the number assigned to me. Dealer accepted it, at first they didn't want to, but I stated it was able to be used and they did. So my membership price I have paid for the last 20 years just paid for itself.

Go to NADA.com and build the new Pacifica and it has an incon for the incentives and is up to date. It tells you all incentives that are available and so read through them looking to see if you can qualify. I know they also have one for USAA....military etc.

Ordering vs. on the lot: I ran into a similar dilemma when trying to buy a Jeep a few years ago (also owned by Chrysler). And it was easily solved: I just emailed about a half dozen dealers within reasonable driving distance asking if they either had the model with options I was looking for could order that configuration for me and what the price would be either way. None of the dealers had exactly what I was looking for, so they all quoted me on ordering from the factory. And the range was anything from 8% under to 1% over MSRP. Keep in mind, because I was emailing, I was dealing with the dealer's 'internet department' and not a regular salesperson. They just wanted to turn the requests around as quickly as possible. The 8% under dealership honored their price - but would not negotiate further. I was fine with that, it just meant having to wait 3 months for my car to be built.

PS - hello Pacifica forum - I find myself surprised to say I'm really looking forward to purchasing a minivan! It will most likely be the plug-in hybrid Pacifica or whatever Honda releases for the new Odyssey. I'm able to wait a bit.

Damon, I just wanted to thank you again for bringing the Sam's incentive to my attention. I signed my papers yesterday and that $1,000 will pay a big chunk of my extended warranty purchase.

Thank goodness you posted about the Sam's offer when you did because I received an email from Sam's this morning letting me know that, as a member, I could get up to $1,000 cash off on a new vehicle. I can't even imagine how PO'd I would have been if I would have purchased my van yesterday afternoon without knowing about the offer, then getting that email this morning. So, you probably added a year or so on to my life by making that post....:)
