After 6000 miles I see no redeeming value in using ESS.I do not like it and would hope for an update to disable it,although I won’t be holding my breath to see it happen.
Do you know there is a device that will keep it off? It is not cheap but it works well and easy to install.

I use the ESS at stoplights, and in light traffic. Other times I hit the button to disable it, as it sucks when you are attempting to pull out in traffic, and your car turns off.

A sun roof and ESS were on my list of do not buy a car with those options. There were other options I did not need, but those two were show stoppers.
What do you have against sunroofs?

I've never had a sunroof until a week ago, when I bought my 2018 PacHy.
I've never been against them, I've just not been willing to pay extra for them.
My wife has always been against them, thinking they will always leak.
Her experience with a leaking sunroof was from back in the 80's.
I told her I'm sure they are made better now.
I'm hoping they don't leak anymore.
So please tell me they don't leak anymore.

Or just disconnect the hood sensor.
Just wait few month and it will stop work by itself. To be precise as soon as the small battery does not get full charged ever. I got a new battery and few weeks after here I'm again in Status ESS disabled because the battery is being charged.

Everytime I think about me paying for a feature that does not work at all I get really piss off.
