Have anyone experienced this issue before? New 2018 Pacifica Limited displaying a "door open" message all the time for the driver door. All other doors sensors operate fine except that the driver's one remains saying that the door is open when it is actually closed. After I close the door, start the van, release the parking brake and start driving it, then the parking brake automatically gets engaged again. Then I release the parking brake again and continue driving. The "Vehicle not in Park" message is added to the panel and finally the start/stop service required warning "a yellow A inside a circle with exclamation sign" shows up as well. The interior lights remain on and a chime beeps every few minutes. I'm taking it to the dealer but they are so busy that they gave me the appointment date a week from today. I was not able to find an answer online and this could be a common issue. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just started having this problem last Friday (1/25/19) on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Touring L.

In my case, the parking brake is not self engaging. Lights stay on (I had to manually turn all lights off in the cabin, which, unfortunately, dimmed the dashboard lights ... doesn't appear that the lighting controls are working properly either), and I get the message that a door is open whenever I slow down to a stop or start from a stop.

I also cannot lock the doors while inside the vehicle.

Welcome to the forum! Taking your user name as literal, I assume you have your hands full!

I don't have the hybrid, but many of the things work the same. That door message definitely requires a service call. Messing with fixing it might void the warranty.

The cabin lights issue might just require some learning. There is a discussion here.

On the gas model, there is a setting for self engaging parking brake. Check that.

Welcome to the forum. If you put your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc.) in the signature line of the UserCP it will show up at the bottom of each post. How long have you had your van?
You can download extensive owner's manuals on the Mopar and UConnect websites.

The auto parking brake setting is in the touchscreen settings.

Check the tailgate to be sure it is latched. When another vehicle was new we noticed that we weren't shutting it hard enough at first and got an opened door symbol. (It wasn't powered.)

How are you trying to lock the doors while inside the van? Have you tried the inside door lock button or fob lock button? Either should lock the van while you are in the van. When you open the driver's door from inside, the lock will unlock. Do the automatic locks engage at about 20 mph while you are driving?
You should be able to see/hear the locks working. You may need to see the dealer about the locks if they aren't working correctly.

Yes, I agree with SciTchr. Especially if you have five kiddos in the minivan it will be really unsafe to drive anywhere (someone might even consider it reckless). I would go to the dealership and demand to fix it ASAP. Also ask them for a loaner for the duration.

I'm now getting the same issue only drivers door, and door locks don't lock at either the button inside, when driving over 20mph, the key fob locks it only when it's not running.

Was there a solution to this??

I am having a similar problem. All works well on start up, no notifications.

Drive away and doors auto lock normally, after a couple of minutes then the driver door unlocks, warning shows up on center display about door being unlocked. Interior lights come on, Auto start/stop unavailable warning comes on.

If I pull over, put vehicle in park open and shut the door, then door open indicator will most times go out. Start driving and the door will most time auto-lock but will at times unlock door and show door open indication.

Vehicle is new to me and I have not made an appointment to get looked at yet, still trying to collect data. This has been happening for the last 3 days.

Thanks

I am having the door open sensor alert issue. Someone tried breaking into my 2018 Pacifica and the alarm never went off even though the sensor registers the door as open. I took it to the dealer and they said it is not under warranty because it was vandalized however if the door is registering as open should the alarm have went off? Seems like an electrical defect that needs to be fixed under warranty.

Would also like to know the cost to fix the sensor as well. The dealership wanted to charge me $165 just to look at it for over two hours.

Have batteries checked. If you look at other threads, a weak battery can cause all kinds of unrelated error messages and actions.

Most auto parts stores will load test batteries for free. Test both the main battery and ESS battery. Also have them do an OBD download & printout for you, especially after an episode. T/hen you can show any codes to the dealer. Codes can "age out" of the system by the time you get to the dealer appointment. The printout negates the "there are no codes for us to use to diagnose the condition" position dealers often take because without some clues, Chrysler probably won't reimburse them for warranty work.

Good luck - and please when it is solved, come back to this thread with the resolution to help others.

Call Chrysler and open a case, and if they are responsive, have them make the dealer appointment or let them know when it is made. Hopefully, they will be sympathetic.

I have spoken with Chrysler they apologize for my vehicle issues and they submitted a claim. They offered nothing else and hung up before I could say anything else after giving the okay to submit a claim.

What is the "claim" for -- Did they say the dealer should diagnose under warranty or what? If you don't get contacted by a case manager in a day or so, call them back with your case number.

Yes, I understand that the battery could be a problem. This is a used vehicle that is new to me. I had it back to the dealer for them to check and after 4 hours they came back and said that I needed a new door latch. After 3 weeks called them and surprise it is just in. I have an appointment to get it replace in another week.

Since the vehicle was in (door light was on when I took it in thankfully, although I did do video's to prove what it was doing) the car has started acting normally. I don't know if they tested the battery although it does show correct from the dash readout. I personally don't think that the door latch is the problem but am willing to let them replace it. I am worried that this is going to re-occur some time down the road and the dealer not feel like they are responsible to correct the problem.

I'll keep you informed.

I was in and had the door latch replaced yesterday, hopefully this was the cause of the failure. Of note when I was talking with the front end (receptionist?) people, I mentioned that I was concerned that this might be an issue with either a low battery or a grounding issue. He looked through the file on this vehicle of what had been checked when the vehicle was in the last time and mentioned that there had been some fault codes that mentioned a low voltage condition but that they had all been cleared and checked. I am kicking myself that I did not ask for a copy of that file as the repair sheet that I received made no mention of all the fault codes. They did state that the last time I was in there was a update that they had installed. Thanks for the offer and if I have any more issues on this down the road may take you up on it.

John
