So is this a real recall or not? @ChryslerCares says there is no recall.

Maybe it goes live on Friday?
I included this in a private message, but wanted to make sure it was available publicly as well. Until a recall is officially launched, it will not show up for the vehicles affected, so we cannot confirm for anyone if they are included. Anyone whose vehicle is included will receive notification via mail, but you can also go to recalls.mopar.com for updates, and to sign up for email notifications in the event parts are not immediately available.

I don't see any new activity on this thread. I haven't received a mailed notice, but my monthly VHR e-mail listed the Recall -- FCA T54 NHTSA Recall #17V-542.

It says don't use the left outboard seat until corrected. Not an issue for me -- that position has a car seat (for grandchildren) in it using the LATCH system.

Received my notice in the mail today. Anyone hear about how the dealership is supposed to fix this issue?
Chrysler Dealers are going to replace one Buckle on the 2nd Row Center (8th) Seat. Most Dealers will have you check first with their Parts Department to use your vehicle's last 8-digits of the VIN to view the specific Recall and to see if they have the required parts available. If they need to order parts then they will typically call you when the parts are in and therefore ready for a Service Department Appointment to replace the buckle in this specific case.

My Part is in and I now have an appointment to address the Recall on Friday morning. I'll let you all know how long it and what was done.

The buckle replacement took less than an hour. They did take the left side (meaning where your left hand would be when sitting in the middle seat) of the 8th seat apart to replace the buckle, as such the issue must have been interference between the drivers side 2nd row passenger seat and the center 2nd row seat.

I'm not sure you can actually notice the difference from the visible portion of the center buckle. I know they removed the plastic cover that covers the black metal part of the center seat where the buckle is connected. They either replaced the hardware associated with that connection or actually installed a buckle with an improved connection such that in extreme side to side movement of the vehicle in an emergency interference with the left 2nd row passenger seat buckle would be mitigated. I should have taken a better "before" photo.

Thanks for the before picture. Could you post an after picture?

I've played with my center buckle trying to unlatch the driver side backseat buckle but I can't get it to unbuckle it. This seems like a very hard to reproduce problem.

Has anyone else tried to get the center seatbelt to unbuckle the driver side backseat buckle?

Welcome to the forum.

Only certain 8 passenger vans were affected. Newer vans may already have the remedy to the problem, so it depends on your VIN or manufacture date.

"Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a shorter second-row seat belt buckle, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 20, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T54"

You can check the manufacture date of your van on the inside edge of the driver's door or put your VIN in at the Mopar owners site to see if your van was affected. You can also private message @ChryslerCares by clicking on the red letters.

If you put your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc.) in the signature line of the UserCP it will help others assist you on the forum.
