Pacifica with 4 inch or 7 inch upgrade to 8.4 inch screen

I am looking to buying a Chrysler Pacifica. Probably 2017 or 2018. Something I am very interested on is the Uconnect 8.4 inch screen with Apple CarPlay.

There is a big difference in price between the Pacifica with the 4 inch or 7 inch and the Pacifica with the 8.4 inch.

Would it be better to spend more upfront and get the Pacifica with the 8.4 inch or is there a way to convert the 4 or 7 inch to the 8.4 inch. If there is a way, where could I find some information on how to.

2017s are not capable of CarPlay or Android Auto. Only 2018s and up.

I think it would be better (and probably cheaper) to get a 2018+ Pacifica with the 8.4 screen if that is what you want instead of changing the screen hardware. 2018+ Pacificas come with screens with Apple Car Play/Android Auto. (The 2017 Pacificas screens don't have Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.) Some vans have a navigation feature, but it isn't the same as phone navigation plugged into the screen using Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. You will have to pay ($100-150) UConnect for map updates when you want them with the van navigation feature that doesn't use Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

If you are buying a used van, it will be hard to tell what the difference in price would be. When I bought my 2017 van (new in 2016) there was about a $595 price difference for getting the 8.4 nav optional screen instead of the 4-5 inch screen. The larger screen was worth it to me.

It is possible that the different screen size may have hidden features associated with it such as navigation and better speakers. You can check the VINs to see what the difference is for the used vans you are comparing. This link will get you a window sticker if you open it in a new tab with the VIN at the end.

There is another VIN look up tool for the build sheet. Add the VIN to the end.

If you are really interested in a 2017 and changing the screen, here is thread with about 150 posts that you can read .

on the new ones, moving up to the 8.4" screen is almost $1,000. But the 8.4" includes NAV (seperate from the phone). It also includes a nicer plastic surround that IMHO fits better with the upscale feel of the pacifica. We just bought ours in December and the 8.4" was a must have once my wife saw it compared with the 7". On the used market, price is subjective, so i doubt you would know too much of a cost difference between 7" and 8.4"
Definitely recommend the 8.4NAV and The Advanced Safety Tech ... give you a 360 camera which is really awesome to have for such a large vehicle. Also the overall resolution and user interface is so much better on the 8.4inch screen.

I have the '18 and want to go from my 7 inch to the the 8.4 w/or without Nav.. I'm able to get the actual 8.4 inch screen with or without the Bezel air duct surround, do you know what else I would need (of course it couldn't be that easy) or is all this just an expensive hot confusing mess!! I saw something for $2k that aint gonna happen🤮

Sorry, I have no idea of what is needed to change the size of a 2018 touchscreen. Maybe someone else will know what is required.
