Hi
I have a 2017 TLP
I just noticed the paint bubbling all around the hood edges
What would be the best approach the get it fixed?
Taking it to a dealer or contact Chrysler directly?
So far what I read about it on the forum I should ask for a new hood
Thanks in advance

My 2017 Pacifica hood has very quickly bubbled. Mileage is 37,500. Within the time warrant but not the mileage. Has anyone been able to obtain warrant coverage just outside of the warrant period? The reviews were so good for the Pacifica Ive gone back to a Chrysler product for the first time in a long time despite past experiences but want to know what I might be up against if I take it in. I really love the van so far aside from this. Thank you.
This should still be covered according to the warranty sheet.

"For an outer-body sheet metal panel — one that isfinish-painted and that someone can see when walk-ing around the vehicle — the limits are 5 years orunlimited miles on the odometer, whichever occursfirst."

We have the same issue and have been waiting to hear back on this and two other issues for about 7weeks now. I have called a couple times for updates and just told they will call me back.

I might be the first 2018 to report this issue. I read through most of the thread but didn't see any 2018 reports. March 2018 build date and I have a bubble.

I had the same issue around the front of the hood and up the right side. It was also bubbling on the left sliding door closest to the gas fill door. I took it in to the dealer (which this dealer has fixed a crap ton of issues with this van) Its. 2017 and had close to 50k miles on it. They sent it to Chrysler and at first they denied the repair due to it being out of the factory warranty (36k miles) I called Chrysler Care and opened a claim. A couple of weeks later they had contacted the dealer and said they would pay for the repairs but I would be responsible for 200$. The dealer emailed them back and threw a fit stating this vehicle has been worked on multiple times and the customer shouldn’t have to pay anything. Chrysler came back and said they they would only cover 100$ of the 2. The dealer called me and said that they would cover the last 100$ and it was fixed.

I am happy to report that I had the hood bubbling issue on my used '17, and it was addressed properly and promptly. I contacted Paulding CJDR when I discovered the issue and they had me bring it by ASAP (same day) to have a look. My car was approaching 36K, and they decided it would be cleaner to get it fixed before the bumper to bumper ran out. The body shop manager came out himself and recorded my VIN and took photos of all of the door edges (to prove no excessive corrosion) and the damage. A new hood was requested and authorized. Once the hood arrived, the dealer painted it and contacted me to come in to swap hoods. Not only did they change and adjust the hood (perfect body lines) correctly, but they COMPLETELY detailed my car to new standards. Total time consumed with this was about a half day counting both trips to the dealership, which I consider acceptable. While having this issue to begin with is not ideal, my experience with the remedy was quite good.

Now what about these grinding sliding doors that constantly reverse direction.....

Took to dealer today. After looking at car for 2 minutes, they told me they were ordering a new hood. Happy to get a new one as there were obviously a few rock chips and a small dent. To those saying that they are repairing and not replacing, I would challenge the dealership on this as they are getting me a new hood.
again, I have a 2017 Pacifica.

Add me to the list of owners with bubbling paint on the hood. We have a white 2017 Limited and most of the leading edge of the hood has paint bubbles. I've already called the dealership and they said to bring it in and they'll take pictures of it and submit a claim.

After skimming this thread, it seems that a lot of people are getting the whole hood replaced rather than repainted. I hope we get the same repair.

Besides the hood, are there other areas I should inspect?

Thanks.

Count me on the list. Didn't even know it was a "known issue". Just happened to walk out and see the hood and figured I had to check Google because there was no way our always garaged van was the only one with the issue. Sure enough. Will update after the dealer visit.

Thanks for the response. I went to the dealer yesterday and was told they are currently a "premiere" warranty dealer, where they are authorized to approve claims like this without needing to take pictures and get further approvals.

That said, the claims consultant said the repair is approved and Chrysler recently developed a repair procedure where they strip the paint and they apply a coating to the hood and repaint rather than replace the hood. Currently, we're waiting for a call to schedule the repair with the body shop.

I'd be curious to know if this is ACTUALLY some "new" process as opposed to what they were doing earlier when repairing/repainting. My first "repair" yielded a return of the paint bubbles not long after which escalated to hood replacement. It will be interesting to learn what is "different" about this process if it is, in fact, an actual viable alternative to full replacement.

Add me to the list. Passenger side leading edge of the hood. I'll spare you the pics. I have owned mine since new April 2017 but only have 2500 miles left on the 3/36. Setting up an appointment this week before a 1500 mile trip. Can't afford to cut it too close.

Check your roofs, I had one on the roof that I have been battling the dealer to repair ever since I bought the car. Between the dealer and my first experience with Chrysler cares, they decided wet sanding and touch up paint was the answer.....

Now the paint doesn't match, and I'm still waiting to hear what they plan to do next.
