The sliding door on the passenger side is having issues whereby when you open it it will partially open and then beep like something is in the way and then close. The opposite happens too when closing the door it will close partially and then beep like something is in the way and then reopen. The beep and change in direction can happen at anytime in the door opening/closing process sometimes multiple times in the same process and is not consistently reproducible (sometimes the door opens or closes just fine). The driver side sliding door doesn't have the same issue just the passenger side.
Anyone have any insight or similar issues?

I haven't seen that issue with either of my doors. I think you're going to have to take it in to the dealer for a diagnosis.

If you manually open/close the door w/o the power assist motor running do you feel any resistance? It should slide very smoothly throughout its entire range. To try this without motor assist press the side door child lockout button on the overhead console. Then, if you press the outside handle button the door motor will still run as before but if you instead pull the handle 'old-school' style the motor won't run and you can check for smoothness.

I'm wondering if maybe they just reset the safety sensors that detect objects in the way because the only reason the door would reopen on it's own from partially closing is if it hits something in it's moving path. Either that or the motor controller which determines how far is open and how far is closed gets reset. I can't remember where, but I've read somewhere resetting the door to relearn full open and full close.

Either resets are quick and simple for the service department. I just wish I remembered where I saw the DYI instructions so you could try that out on your own to save you a trip to the dealer.

Hi darraghf,
I am not aware of this concern, but would recommend a diagnosis at a certified dealership. If I can assist you in making an appointment please feel free to reach out.

I have had this issue pop up recently but with the driver side passenger door. Not only this but the driver side passenger door closed by itself, without pushing any buttons. I had open the doors with the key fob before turning on the van, when I got in and turned on the van, with the door still open, a message popped up on the dash cluster that said car must be in park when operating sliding doors and then JUST the driver passenger door closed on its own. I never touched the shifter knob, as I was just trying to get the car started before putting my kids in!

I am having same issue , and very frustrated . Any advice on fixing it
I am having exactly the same issue. and it's happening randomly. I have Pacifica hybrid 2018, purshased in Nov 2017.
The issue is with the passenger slide door, it pop up very slightly when I try to open it (using the key, using the door button , using the leg swing sensor), then I have to press a second time so that it opens fuly. I took it to Chrysler dealership & it was working fine there (what a luck), I was not able to demonstrate in front of them the issue, and so there were not able to do anything.

Did anyone find the root cause?

Frustrated in Mo.

I am having the same issue. vehicle is current in the shop for the 6th time for this. They are replacing door wiring. I called Chrysler and opened a case with them. I also get a message that comes up on Driver display that says, "to operate door place vehicle in park". I do not feel safe at all. driving with my children or pets in the vehicle. This Trip to dealer was supposed to just replace door track. Now I am in a smaller vehicle (rental) that does not have a fraction of the features I am paying for. Wish I would have kept my 2012 Town & Country.

Same problem on my 2017 Limited purchased in May 2017. Passenger sliding door starts to open, then stops part way open and reverses direction to close again. Dealership supposedly cleaned and lubricated something and it was fixed...for about 12 hours, then started doing it again. Going to different dealership to have it looked at again. So frustrating. Should not have any malfunctions in a new car.

I am having a slightly different problem with my 2017.
Passenger sliding door will not function electronically.
Manually is no problem. When I push ANY of the door
buttons it beeps and displays a message that no power
is available, open manually.
Dealer here I come.....:crying:

Thanks for the info.
However, I was putting in my new floor mats this morning
and just like magic the door starts working again, like nothing
ever happened.
I,m not a young guy, Ive been a dealership mechanic in the past
and in the Air Force worked on electo mechanical devices, ie,
aircraft missles and this to me seems like a design flaw. Could
be a ground which 90% of elect problems seem to be, or something
in the door mechanism is just not up to par. Of course forget
everything I just said because there is a computer involved. :)

We had a lot of trouble with our drivers side sliding door... finally they replaced the door handle itself and the problem, so far, has gone away... seems the switch in the handle was not working right.
