passenger sliding door not closing all the time

The passenger sliding door is not always closing. It will pull fully forward, try try and pull in and latch and then reverse (repeatedly). Had it into the dealership and they were able to recreate the issue when the car was on a slight incline (I also sent them video). Both the repair shop and the body shop looked at it and they say that there is nothing wrong with the door and that is just going to happen sometimes "it is a known problem". As my driveway has a slight incline (only about 5 in over 4 feet front to back and 2 inches over 4 feet left to right), more often then not the door will not close without some amount of assistance. I have never had the problem with the drivers side sliding door. Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions before I start a lemon law complaint?

Mine recently started doing this too. Level ground, slope, night, day, adult, child - it's fairly regular. Frustrating, and we've locked the car and walked away several times only to discover the door opened on it's own just after we turned away.

Do you have any other problems? Silly question to ask for this car perhaps :) I just ask because while frustrating, unless you have significant other issues - tranny, steering, power, etc - a lemon law case isn't likely to go anywhere just on the door alone.

Hi Ezenick and catboy,

We're sorry to hear about these concerns with your Pacificas! If you're still experiencing this, please send us a PM with details so we can take a closer look.

This has become more frequent recently where I actuate right sliding door closure from the front seat and have it close all the way and then open again like there is something jammed. My record is a consecutive 6 attempts, before it finally closed. Luckily it isn't that frequent that this happens, but frustrating when it does. Now to the point that I need to bring it up when I go to the dealer next.

Especially with the keyless proximity open and exterior lock button on the door, we never take the keys out of our jackets/purse/pockets to lock at a distance with horn chirp confirmation. We assume the sliding door will reliably close, but have since started to double check. We did come back once after grocery shopping to find the sliding door open still, and luckily again, it was only a light drizzle.

We have a 2017 that had a similar issue. Ours would close and just as it was about to latch would beep 3 times and start opening. There was a door module software update that came out a few months ago that solved our problem. Sometimes you have to specifically tell the dealer to update modules and that you learned there is a new one available or they won't do it

was it all the time or only some of the time?

Do you remember the Service Bulletin or update applied?

"it is a known problem" and it is just going to happen sometimes?

That is completely unacceptable.
"it is a known problem" and nothing done about it ? It just happens sometimes?

Anyone else think that is completely unacceptable?

We have had similar issues with our 2018, although I have not seen the pattern like you have and it always shuts after the second attempt. It does it maybe one in 20-25 times. I have yet to bring it up with the dealer because they are working through 3 other issues I feel are more important at the moment.

I will add my vehicle to this list as it's happening on the passenger side about 50% of the time and takes at least two tries to latch, and occasionally with the driver side. It doesn't beep that I can recall, just opens up again. Wondering if anyone has had any resolution from the ChryslerCares folks or has specifics about the "door module software update" ?

Ours does the same. We tried to take it in over the holidays (plus a couple other items), but their Hybrid tech is out. They also said there's a software fix for it.
Our 2018 did the same thing in the winter last year. I didn’t get around to taking it in until the Spring when I brought it in for an oil change. The dealership flashed the modules with new software and it hasn’t happened since (and we’re in the middle of winter again).

Power door issue

Here is my problem - they finally "fixed" the known sliding door issue that i have been complaining about since day one but because i am over 36k miles they want to charge me $130 for this which is ridiculous for a software update.

Same Issue on both sliding doors

I have a 2018 Pacifica and just returned from the dealer. They supposedly fixed our issue with the drivers side door once before and it's still doing it. At the dealer today they couldn't get it to happen and said they can't fix what they can't see. I am so frustrated with this issue. After reading all these sliding door issue posts, it's clear there's some kind of software update and my small town dealer service dept. didn't even know about it (apparently). If they did they would have offered to do it. My mileage is now at 31k and I don't want to run into the same problem. Hoping Chrysler care can contact my dealer and get them to get their act together and get this fixed once and for all!

You will need to contact @ChryslerCares by clicking on the @ChryslerCares letters and send them a private message with your VIN and a description of the problem and location of the dealer. It might take a couple of days for them to respond to your message. Otherwise, print info from the forum and take it with you to the service department and encourage the dealer to look up the software update.
Chiming in to say that I have the same issue with my 2018 Pacifica Hybrid on the driver's side door. The issue was intermittent and every time I remembered to try and video the problem, the door worked fine (an example of the fine German word "vorführeffekt") although I was finally able to capture the latching failing twice yesterday and I'm ready to take the van in.

Can anyone share the software update patch id number or any other details that I can pass along to my dealer? I just got a ball joint recall notice so I might want to kill two birds with one dealer visit.

Same here opens back up .
The issue I had was that the driver's side sliding door would reopen if there was any movement in the van when the sliding door was closing. (Paperwork mentioned passenger side sliding door, but they assured me that they worked on the driver's side door and the problem was remedied. I'm not sure if the part numbers are specific to a certain side of the van.) I don't think any parts were replaced, just reflashed. I hope this helps you get results.
This is what the repair order stated and was covered under an extended Mopar warranty:
"Available DMRL Update with concern and calibration fix.
Flashed DMRL to flashing from current part number 68225096AF to targeted part number 68225096AG.
18191498 Module, Rear Door Control (RDCM) Reprogram (0 Introduction) 6 Electrical and Body Systems 0.2 Hrs."

Does anyone know how to perform a reset or calibrate the sliding door?

I don't want to take my minivan to the dealer.
